DIY gold wedding decor ideas
This must be our lucky week! Yesterday Kelly Perry of Philosophy Flowers and Sara Logan Photography shared a rad DIY bouquet recipe on le blog. And today these two are back at it again with even more crafty inspo. This time Ms. Perry is showing us how to turn up the wedding day glam using gold paint from your local craft store. With a little effort, ordinary candles and vases turn into gilded masterpieces. Let’s get started, shall we…
Here’s what you need:
Gold acrylic paint
A paintbrush
Vases
Basic candles
Flowers
Step One: Start with clean, dry containers and apply a layer of paint. For this project we freehanded the top line to give it an organic, one-of-a-kind feel. For the textured vases, we used the dots as a guide for accenting the container.
Step Two: After allowing the first layer of paint to dry, apply a second layer. Continue to apply layers until the desired opaqueness is achieved. We used three layers for our final product, but you could vary the layering for an ombre effect.
Step Three: Fill the dry vases with water and your favorite flowers! We used dahlias, garden roses, snapdragons, ranunculus, anemone and snowberry.
Vases and candles are really just the beginning! Let this inspire you to think beyond and craft special accents that reflect your personality. To complete our tablescape, we added gold chargers and vintage candlesticks like the ones that you can find over in the 100 Layer Cake Marketplace. The striped runner was made from dollar-a-yard fabric found at Walmart. I just cut it with pinking scissors, turned over the edges, and ran a stitch down the side.
Happy crafting!

Gorgeous and gilded—love the slightly vintage look! This would be perfect for a party tablescape as well, not just for a wedding. Thanks for the DIY-spiration!
