Autumnal Danish 'Hygge' inspired wedding editorial with a gorgeous floral installation
A few highlights to pique your interest in this this gorgeous autumnal editorial: One, this delicate ivory dress. Two, the bride’s big, loose braid (close ups below), and three, that floral installation for the ceremony. Trifecta of beauty, all in one image! Not to mention, how neat is the Danish concept of ‘Hygge’—which means a profound yet subtle sense of contentment and coziness—when applied not to home and lifestyle, but instead to your wedding? Photographer Julie Michaelsen and Esthete Events Co have the scoop with photos from The Nordic Way Workshop, below!
Julie tells it, Being Danish, candlelight has always been an intrinsic presence in my life since birth, we celebrate with candle light, the everyday and the special days alike, the cosiness and warmth emitted often goes hand in hand with the Danish concept of Hygge. The idea that everyday actions and plans can be made just a little more special by intentionally embracing cosiness. Lighting the fire place, using the ‘good china’, opening that good bottle of wine, being present and engaging with the present instead of always looking to the future or lamenting the past.
They set up this sweet scene at a private residence in Holland Park, London.
Just a little obsessed with this loose braided bridal hairstyle by Sanni Hair & Makeup Artist.
We wanted to use hints of autumnal tones in our colour palette to reflect the changing of the seasons and the cosiness of short days, longer nights, candles and artisan coffee in bed. The vision was of a down to earth and pared back Nordic chic feel mixed with the elegance of a fine art aesthetic and a hint of French romanticism.
