A design and architecture inspired real wedding at the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport

Photographer Sylvie Rosokoff always shares the most stylish NYC weddings with us. Remember this secret garden wedding? And how about these elopement photos? Well, Sascha + Jacob’s wedding at the TWA Hotel is no exception. The bride is the director of James Cohan Gallery and her groom is the co-founder of architecture firm Ideas of Order, so it’s no wonder they executed such a rad design-focused wedding (as inspired by the venue’s original designer Eero Saarinen). The team at The Get Together Events helped them bring their vision to life, while Bloom Bloom supplied the freshest, most vibrant florals the space had ever seen.

They kicked off their wedding weekend with a welcome dinner at Golden Unicorn Restaurant in Chinatown.

They had the sweetest first look at the TWA Hotel (bright bouquet in hand!). May we suggest perusing these portraits along with their love story in the NYT Vows Column? So cute!

Sascha and Jacob were inspired by so much of the venue: the details and lines of the building, the way the light plays off its curved walls, the timeless feel. Walking through the TWA Hotel is a transportive, special experience, and their wedding felt very much the same.

Highly intentional, personal details abounded throughout the wedding, among them: Jacob’s mom painted and designed the ketubah; his uncle played cello as guests arrived for the ceremony; the Solari board under which they were married was customized to list meaningful cities for Sascha and Jacob’s families; their parents held a tallit above them to create a living chuppah during the ceremony.

Bloom Bloom’s floral design complemented the distinctive red and white throughout the venue by emulating a color story you’d find in nature. She landed on three different palettes, each inspired by the most romantic times of day: golden hour, sunset, and twilight. Aren’t the colors against the red and white venue just amazing?
