There are destination weddings, and then there are weddings set beneath Mount Olympus. Joanna and Nikos gathered about 100 of their closest people at a private villa tucked into the trees of Greece’s legendary mountain, creating a celebration that felt intimate, wildly beautiful, and completely their own. See the colorful wedding below, as captured by our Guide member, Dimitrios Baloukas
The setting couldn’t have been more fitting for these two. As lovers of nature, mountain escapes, and the outdoors, they were immediately drawn to the fresh air, towering trees, and views of Olympus in the distance. Rather than designing a wedding that competed with the landscape, they let the location lead the way.
And we have to start with their story: the two met at the restaurant where Joanna was working as a sushi chef, and for them, it was one of those rare love-at-first-sight moments. So when it came time to plan their wedding, a traditional formula was never really going to be the answer. They wanted something relaxed and unconventional—less about following trends and more about giving everyone they loved an experience they would remember.
The ceremony took place at a tiny chapel just a few minutes from the villa before guests made their way into the trees for dinner. The Bride Sight designed the celebration around a warm, organic palette of creamy beige and earthy neutrals, with touches of soft blush and plenty of lush greenery woven throughout.
Instead of lots of separate floral centerpieces, Edem Flowers created one incredible installation stretching the length of a custom 32-meter table built specifically for the space by Mockinbird Studio. The table became the centerpiece of the entire evening: one long gathering place beneath bespoke fabric-covered lighting, surrounded by forest.
We love how many of the smaller details connected back to Olympus, too. Guests received locally sourced mountain tea with their invitations, while little jars of Mount Olympus honey waited at each place setting. Soft neutral fabrics wrapped the favors and appeared again overhead in the lighting installation, creating a subtle thread through the whole design.
Even their wedding-day looks echoed the setting. Joanna wore a beautifully relaxed Atelier Zolotas gown, while Nikos opted for a contemporary Sartoria Nikos Dallas look rather than going overly formal. Everything felt polished but easy, which is basically the ideal combination for a summer celebration in the mountains.
And instead of a traditional cake-cutting moment? A full dessert station by White Lobster, filled with chocolate treats and fresh summer fruit desserts. Yes, please.
But according to the couple, the best part came after dinner.
As Greek music filled the night, everyone danced, broke plates, tossed carnations, and fully leaned into the celebration. It was a mix of modern wedding style and classic Greek tradition—and exactly the kind of party they had imagined from the beginning.
Their advice to other couples is one we’ll always get behind: don’t build your wedding around what you think you’re supposed to do. Choose the traditions you love, skip the ones you don’t, and create an experience that actually feels like the two of you.
Because a candlelit table beneath the trees of Mount Olympus, followed by plate-breaking and dancing into the night? Pretty hard to forget.
