Italian wedding: Emily + Jordan

Seeing how we’re on our own little bridal fashion kick this week, it seemed super fitting to share design consultant Emily + mixologist Jordan’s intimate wedding captured by Ellie Koleen with ya. Besides the fact that it took place with 50 of their friends + fam from California in a residential castle in Leivi, Italy, Emily’s stylist pal Calvy Click hooked her up with four different, completely gorgeous wedding looks.

The dress details…

I wore a customized Reformation “Francesca” dress down the aisle…. I had altered it a bit to make it feel more summery. I knew this was the dress for me because I wanted something with a plunging neck, in an all-over lace, and as soon as I tried it on—I just felt sassy in it.  Thanks to my friend Calvy Click, who is a stylist in NYC, we were able to find a few extra gowns to complement the setting. My main concern was that I didn’t look too traditional, so we ended up choosing dresses from Delphine Manivet, Grace Loves Lace, Needle & Thread

Fun fact about the ring—when Jordan was 5 years old he found a diamond on a boat and had his mother hold onto it all these years. When he proposed, he gave it to her and she got to design the rest. Extra romance points for Jordan!

The dress that my husband first saw me in was from Delphine Manivet. It was so flirty with the ruffled sleeves that it made me smile immediately when I tried it on—I never wanted to take this dress off! My reception look was from Grace Loves Lace, it was like straight out of a fairy tale with two cape-like sleeves acting like wings on the back. I just wanted to whip them around all evening like a matador (which we have plenty of Boomerang evidence of!). The final gown was from Needle & Thread. This dress was a showstopper and my husband’s favorite. Calvy had suggested this could be the icing-on-the-cake to end the night since it was so grand and sparkly. On our wedding night, all of our friends pitched in to get us a luxury hotel room for the night (with AC, a rare find in our Italian town!) as a surprise after our AirBNB failed us. After the wedding, we walked down the adjacent Italian streets at 3am, reminiscing about the day all the while in this gorgeous sparkly gown and flip-flops.

The whole day was inspired by The Secret Garden, E’s fave story as a kid: lush and green, olive trees, villas off in the hills, etc. So they stuck to white in order to pop within the space.

On finding the property, We went to Italy with family the summer prior to the wedding and my mother-in-law found this incredible castle for us to stay in. The very first morning after waking up in this unbelievably gorgeous place we thought, “would it be absolutely crazy to get married here?”

Emily’s calligrapher friend Jaymie Eaton was behind all the signage + written material. See more shots in our gallery…
