Here’s a fun story for ya: Shawn + Lacey were together for 7 years when he popped the Q, which was a complete surprise. Sooo they figured, why not keep the surprise alive? Spending many months planning a traditional wedding just didn’t sound like them. What did feel like them was enjoying their fave food truck, fave drinks, and fave songs in San Francisco surrounded by the surprised smiles of all their closest pals. Thanks to Melanie Duerkopp Photography for sharing the images!

Having attended so many wonderful weddings in our life, we wanted ours to be something a little different and maybe something a little unconventional. There are so many things in life that are calculated, anticipated or expected and it’s very rare that you get to be authentically surprised. So we decided to throw an engagement party turned wedding!

Stable Cafe, with its big yellow doors and unexpected outdoor space in the middle of the city was a fantastic find. We loved everything about this venue, it’s industrial, modern, and the stone courtyard, white twinkle lights on the trees and reclaimed wood elements were all things we fell in love with. They had a spot in three months L + S booked right away.

Lacey says, Hiring a planner is so helpful when you don’t know the first thing about where to rent a leather sofa, vintage cake plates, pink glasses or those much needed sequin pillows!

Most couples wouldn’t prioritize booking their photobooth but to us, this was the booth we got engaged in and this was the booth we wanted to continue to celebrate with at our wedding. Luckily Das Bus was available! Venue, check, photobooth, check!
