Giulio and Alessandro’s wedding was a celebration of contrast—an intimate, romantic ceremony followed by a full-scale party that felt more like a pop concert than a traditional reception. Set at Conventino di Mentana just outside Rome, their Italy destination wedding blended historic architecture with bold, fashion-forward moments, creating a day that felt both deeply personal and unapologetically expressive. Their story began long before the wedding day. After a 12-year-long engagement, the two finally decided it was time to celebrate their union—one that started in the most unexpected way. Alessandro first noticed Giulio through a window, watching from across the street at a friend’s apartment. Months later, they finally met at a lively carnival party in one of Rome’s most iconic gay clubs—a fitting beginning for a relationship rooted in energy, creativity, and joy.
The Fashion
If the ceremony felt timeless, the fashion brought a modern, expressive edge. Both grooms wore tailored white suits—Giulio in Dolce & Gabbana and Alessandro in Cerruti Roma—chosen not only for their elegance, but for their symbolism.
“We wanted something elegant and glamorous with a touch of eccentricity,” they explain. “We chose white for both our suits, as well as for the women who walked us down the aisle—our mothers and friends—to symbolize the union and the sum of all the colors of the rainbow.”
Their style was also deeply influenced by disco culture and iconic pop divas, a nod to both where they first met and the lasting cultural impact of these artists within the LGBTQ+ community.
Design concept
The day unfolded in two distinct chapters. The ceremony embraced a softer, more romantic tone, grounded in the venue’s old-world charm. By evening, the entire atmosphere shifted—transforming into a high-energy disco celebration with mirror balls, saturated neon lighting, and a packed dance floor that carried the party late into the night.
Guest energy
If the ceremony felt timeless, the reception was pure spectacle. Guests arrived in sequins, metallics, and statement silhouettes—fully embracing the couple’s invitation to show up as their most expressive selves.
More than anything, the wedding was designed as a celebration of universal love. “Not just the love between two people, but the love that connects all human beings—friends, family, and even strangers brought together through emotion and belonging,” they share.
Every guest became part of something larger. The sense of togetherness and acceptance wasn’t just reflected in the design or music—it was something felt throughout the entire day, creating an atmosphere of shared joy that carried from ceremony through the final moments of the night.
“What struck me most was the energy in the room,” the photographer shares. “Not just from Giulio and Alessandro, but from every guest. It felt like everyone arrived ready to celebrate at the same level—bringing their own personality and style into the day.
Once you understand who they are—two deeply creative people with a strong point of view—it all makes sense. Every detail felt intentional, from the quiet, emotional ceremony to the shift into something wild and euphoric by the end of the night. Photographing it felt less like documenting an event and more like stepping into their world.”
Standout Moment
One of the most unforgettable moments came just before dinner, when the couple surprised their guests with a choreographed dance set to a remix of Madonna’s Music and Disco Inferno.
“The reaction was incredible,” they recall. “Everyone jumped up and started dancing with us—it turned into this spontaneous, joyful moment where the entire room was celebrating together.”
