Oh, how we love when a bride tells us her wedding theme was simply *flowers*. In the case of Pieterjan & Alexandra, it was wildflowers, and they showed up everywhere from the stationery to the hanging florals at their reception (photos to come!). While P + A loved the idea of a classic, elegant Belgian wedding, they also love cheerful details and lots of color. See how Madame est Servie and Wild Flower Fairy helped them bring the two concepts together in the photos Elisabeth Van Lent shared:
Spring wildflower bouquet, check.
The bride explains, We visited over 15 venues before finding the perfect one. We loved driving around on Sundays from one venue to another. Not one could top La Ferme de Balingue. In Belgium you normally get married in the church of the village where you, your partner, or your parents live. But since our families live in very different parts of Belgium, we decided to search for a church near our venue. It was a very charming little church. The inside was painted entirely white which made it very light and cheerful. We could get married there if we had our own priest. Luckily my mother’s nephew, who is a priest, was happy to lead our church service.
Cutest first look! And, cutest flower girl:
After the ceremony in the church, they had an afternoon reception with 125 colleagues and acquaintances. Later, they had a reception and dinner with their family and close friends at the venue.
As for the aforementioned hanging florals, they based their color palette off of a photo of a floral ceiling Alexandra spotted on Pinterest, with tones ranging from nude to hot pink, grey-blue, and purple. She’d been following Wild Flower Fairy‘s work even before they were engaged, so she was a no-brainer for the design!
So pretty and cheerful!
For photography, they wanted a photographer that was fun and spontaneous but created light and timeless photos. Elisabeth Van Lent took their engagement photos in a field of flowers, which inspired them to incorporate flowers into their design as well. By then they felt totally comfortable with her and knew she’d take soft, bright photos even if the day itself was cloudy.
