Ah, an ACE Hotel Palm Springs wedding… Just what we needed to end the week with. Living in LA with busy careers in production, Palm Springs has long been one of Zoe + Steve’s fave getaways. They love their time spent at the ACE so much that naturally they wanted their wedding to reflect the relaxed boho desert vibe the venue has to offer. Thanks to Alixann Loosle Photography for sending this one our way!
Z + S had pored over our Ace Hotel Palm Springs real weddings to get inspired for their 75-guest (plus some kiddos) wedding, and Zoe (and her brand Hawxhurst LA) actually designed + planned everything up until the day of. See her Pinterest board for more ideas!
Zoe tells it, We wanted to keep the wedding as eco-friendly and budget friendly as possible. Pretty much anything that could be done ahead of time I did myself… A lot of couples we talked to said they regretted spending so much money and putting a lot of time into assembling party favors only to see so many of them end up left behind or wind up in the trash, so we decided to eliminate wasteful expenditures on items like party favors and instead just do activity boxes for the little ones and gifts for the bridal party. The money we saved in that area let us put more money into fun stuff, like French macaron ice cream sandwiches from our favorite ice cream shop in LA.
The bride also made this 7-foot tree branch wall hanging with recycled fabric. So neat!
Alixann Loosle is an incredible photographer. I just loved the dreamy romantic look of her photos and she put us right at ease. After seeing our engagement photos, I knew she was the one! Definitely take advantage of the opportunity to do an engagement shoot. It gives you time to try out the photographer and get comfortable working together, and professional engagement photos make a wedding website and registry really come alive. My advice for other brides based in big cities like LA, NYC or SF—don’t be afraid to hire a photographer out of state. We flew Alixann in from Salt Lake City Utah for our California wedding and it worked out great.
As much as they love the ACE, their biggest hurdle was originally deciding on a venue. Their search took them from Sonoma to Big Sur to Hollywood and then Palm Springs, where they were able to have their wedding within their budget with rentals, food and drink, and service charges all included. Not to mention the bar and pool!
Last but not least, their wedding music:
Bridal Party: Canon in D live acoustic guitar by a friend
Bride’s Entrance: Shine A Light—Live at Royal Albert Hall version by Spiritualized
Recessional: Here Comes Your Man Pixies cover by Vitamin String Quartet
1st Dance: Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized followed by Leonard Cohen’s I’m Your Man
Congratulations, Zoe + Steve! Cakies, be sure to check out everyone involved in their day below…
