Happy Monday, Cakelets! Today’s sweet eye candy has a bit of unexpected rain, a striking black and white chevron pattern, billy buttons, an amazing oak tree, heavenly flower arrangements, and the Bash, Please touch! The charming new Mr. & Mrs. are both techies (he’s Creative Director at Odopod, she’s the VP of Editorial at Glam Media), living in San Francisco. Oh, and they had 2Pac’s “California Love” play as their recessional song. Rad couple? We know so. Plus, they had the talented Love Me Sailor capture the magic. It’s the perfect way to ring in the week!

You’re totally dying over her Erickson Beamon necklace aren’t you? We are too.

A very sweet moment due to the rain – Ryan’s dad had to hold her train as he walked her down the aisle.

The music: wedding party processional: “At the Hop” by Devendra Barnhart, bride processional: “Canela” by Devendra Barnhart, recessional: “California Love” by 2Pac, first dance: “You’re the One” by The Black Keys.

Bash, Please always nails it with their florals, don’t they? Uunique, soft, elegant, with a touch of romance. If you could bottle up their floral arrangements and save them, we would.

From the bride…The Hotel Saint Cecilia played a huge part being such a special space on it’s own. It has this really eclectic style with memorable Austin touches like the neon Soul sign mixed with more modern cues like the black and white tiled flooring. Lastly, the Texas southern-style wrap around porches make it feel like your own backyard. It’s a bit of everything with great style connecting it all. The amazing oak tree in the center of the sprawling lawn created an epic backdrop—and because of the rain, the entire mood became more dramatic on the day of. That we didn’t plan.

Congratulations Ryan + Tim!

We constantly hear brides admit to becoming bff’s with their wedding coordinator/designer. Happens all the time! How can you not love them after they’ve literally knocked out the wedding of your dreams? They know where every bitty detail will sit, when to queue the music, when to bring on the late night snack, stick to your budget, manage all the chaos behind the scenes, and you? You’re getting your hair done with a glass of bubbly in your hand not worrying about a thing – except for making sure you’re wearing waterproof mascara. The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co. does it all. Consulting, Week Of/Month Of, Design and Coordination, Service Event Planning – they get it done! Check out some of their work:

Getting to know the pros:

What made you become an event planner?
I had been working in fashion buying and merchandising for several years and I while I loved it, I was ready to move on to something new. Over the years, I had planned a bunch of parties for my close friends and they all started telling me I was good at it and I began to think of events as a career choice. When layoffs came at the company I was working for, I immediately jumped at the chance to intern in event planning and from there I began my new path in the events industry. It was the best decision I have ever made!

What makes for an unforgettable wedding?
There are a few things: the expression of love between the couple, a great group of people in attendance, plenty of food and alcohol and non-stop dancing!

Who is your dream client?
That’s a tough one! I am a gemini so I feel like I have two ideas on many things. I would say Ralph Lauren because I really want to see that ranch of his. He is a branding genius and I love his luxurious preppy style. But then I also can’t get enough of the whimsy of someone like Jonathan Adler. I am a HUGE Palm Springs fan and enjoy bursts of color – he sums it all up for me. I think I should plan a joint dinner party for both of them!

What is your favorite part of your job?
There are so many! However, I really enjoy getting to know so many people. It’s a pleasure to become an important part of your clients’ lives and then have all of these new friends.  And not only that, I also get to work with so many creative and talented vendors – they are all so inspirational and supportive. I feel lucky everyday that I get to do what I do! Plus I have access to a lot of sweets and I enjoy looking at pretty things:)

Favorite part of a wedding?
It is always rewarding when the bride and groom first see the space. I like the joy and excitement they feel when they see all of their dreams come to life. And I also love the end of the night when the dance floor is full and the bride and groom are finally relaxed and having a good time with their family and friends.

Oh hello, East Side Bride! We’ve missed you! We’re thrilled to have her back with a question about “THE DRESS”.

Dear ESB,

What are you thoughts on wearing my sister’s wedding dress to my wedding?

I absolutely love hers, and it fits perfectly. My mom wore her sister’s (mainly because she was broke as a joke), and I like that slight tradition, but will people think, “wtf?” or “her sister looked better”?

*****

Do you look like your sister?

Even if the dress is really great — ESPECIALLY IF THE DRESS IS REALLY GREAT — I’m afraid everyone will get weird flashbacks to her wedding in the middle of yours, which, you don’t want that, do you??

Photo by September Pictures. (The amazeballs ruff dress was found at a vintage trunk show, then altered.)

We don’t like to pass up the opportunity to feature the work of an amazing photographer, so imagine how stoked we were when we found out the photographer behind this shoot was one of our past brides! Remember when we featured this sexy styled couple? Well, the bride, Mariana is back. This time she’s behind the camera and sharing these beautifully nostalgic photographs. They look like they could have come straight out of an editorial shoot for an international fashion magazine.

If these two were in a band together, they’d easily have their album cover in one of these shots!

When it comes to throwing a kid-friendly wedding, Arno + Nadine know how to roll: historic cabins along the river, tug of war, football, kayaking along the Russian River, croquet and a piñata. Their wedding, largely focused on the concept of family and integrating children into all activities, makes us happy. The work the two of them do makes us want to give them hugs. Nadine runs an incredible non-profit medical center for low income children in San Francisco and Arno works in solar energy with a successful company in Marin. If after you swoon over their wedding you feel a sense of nostalgia, it’s because Nadine wanted the wedding to feel like summer camp on the set of Dirty Dancing. Their venue, Dawn Ranch was perfect and really lended that campy summer vibe.

Nadine grew up with piñatas at every family function, as her mom used them at every possible party (birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.). So, they crushed a big silver piñata to kick off the wedding reception. All thirty of the kids at the wedding went wild!
