A Greenhouse Disco Dinner Party on the California Coast

May 28, 2026

Meghan and Peter’s greenhouse disco wedding at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm in Santa Barbara felt like an entire world built just for the night. Every detail, from the ceramics on the tables to the light filtering through glass panels at golden hour, was placed with intention and joy.

The couple — both originally from Maryland, both living in Santa Monica when they met through mutual friends — wanted their West Coast wedding to feel like a full-sensory experience: earthy and colorful, groovy and coastal, communal and electric. The result? Something they describe as “a greenhouse disco dinner party tucked away on the California coastline.” We’d live there if we could.

Brought to life by our Guide member, planner and designer, Onyx and Redwood, and captured beautifully by Nikki Strekowski this wedding is one we’ll be thinking about for a long time. Scroll through — you’ll see why.

The wedding stationery was designed by the bride herself, which tells you everything you need to know about how creative and invested this couple was in every element of their day.

The Setting: A Santa Barbara Wedding at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm

Choosing between an East Coast wedding (where they grew up) and a West Coast wedding (where their love story began) was actually an easy call for Meghan and Peter. They wanted to get married in the place that made them fall for each other. And when they walked into Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm — with its oceanside bluffs, mountain views, native foliage, and that gorgeous rustic greenhouse — they knew on the first tour.

There was also a small moment of magic: a bluebird perched on a fencepost while they walked the property. Peter’s late grandmother was an avid birder and especially loved bluebirds, so they took it as a sign. From that moment, it was decided.

The venue did so much of the emotional work before a single decoration was placed. With most guests flying in from the East Coast — many seeing California for the very first time — the natural beauty of the region was itself a gift. The Pacific stretching out from the bluffs. The golden hills. That light. Meghan and Peter wanted their guests to feel awestruck, taken care of, and free — and the setting made all of that possible before the first drink was even poured.

The Bridal Look

Meghan’s gown by KYHA Bride was an absolute dream — sleek, sculptural, and so beautifully her, especially paired with crochet gloves and a white parasol for a softly romantic, vintage-inspired touch. Like any wedding day, there was one small behind-the-scenes moment: the zipper needed a little extra help once she was dressed.

Planner Jess of Onyx and Redwood quickly called in a local seamstress, who came over and stitched everything perfectly into place. The timeline shifted a bit, but Meghan looked flawless, the team stayed calm, and the day carried on beautifully.

The Ceremony: A Coastal California Wedding with Ocean and Mountain Views

The ceremony took place against one of the most naturally stunning backdrops imaginable — the oceanside setting at Dos Pueblos, framed by coastal foliage and filtered afternoon light. Florals by Knot Just Flowers brought wild, sculptural arrangements to the space that felt entirely alive — lush, organic, and deeply in conversation with the natural landscape.

Their close friend Zac officiated, and by every account he brought a warmth and ease to the ceremony that made both Meghan and Peter feel completely present. Writing their own vows, exchanging them surrounded by every person they love, looking out at the ocean and mountains — Meghan describes it as one of those rare moments where everything slows down and you feel exactly where you’re supposed to be.

The Reception: Greenhouse Disco Dinner Party at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm

As the sun set, the Dos Pueblos greenhouse transformed into something electric — candlelight through the glass panels, oversized disco balls, eclectic vintage lamps, and a rich earthy palette of moss green velvet, amber glass, warm wood, and ceramics that made the whole space feel alive.

From planner Jess: “We leaned into rich seasonal tones — moss green, marigold, dusty mauve, auburn, blush, cream, and soft peach — layered against warm woods, amber glass, various ceramics, and velvet  table cloths. It was so colorful and vibrant but also harmonious and cozy. Meghan wishes she could live in that exact color palette daily.”

Whoa Nelly Catering served an elevated, memorable menu that guests are still talking about — exactly what this food-loving couple wanted. Crafted Cocktails ran a show-stopping bar built around a sourced vintage Tiffany lamp, with bartenders doing tricks all night. And live music by Riviera Culture Club kept the dance floor packed from the first song to the last.

“One of the biggest unexpected moments of the night was when Peter surprised everyone by getting up on stage with the band during the reception and playing a Grateful Dead segment live. While he was playing, our wedding planner Jess ran through the dance floor passing out rave sprouts to guests. It ended up being such a perfect reflection of both of us and the way we wanted the night to feel. Peter loves rock and live music, while Meghan loves house music and dancing, so the entire evening naturally became this blend of both worlds.”
