Eclectic garden wedding in Vero Beach, Florida

August 23, 2017

You know how when you think of Thanksgiving you get all these warm fuzzies about spending this special fall day enveloped in the magic of good food and good people? That warm, welcoming feeling is exactly what Lindsey + Taylor wanted to convey with their wedding in Vero Beach, Florida, and with a venue like Waldo’s Secret Garden, they made it happen surrounded by winding paths and lots of greenery. Thanks to Renee Nicole Photography for the images below!

Fall color palettes, how we’ve missed you! Ashton Events was behind the planning, design, and florals, which helped  L + T tons as they planned from out-of-state.

A quick recap of the day: After Lindsey and Taylor were married under a grand oak tree, the guests ventured through thick paths of greenery to cocktail hour where they enjoyed appetizers and drinks. Guests were able to find their names attached to arrows fastened on a custom bullseye which held a special meaning for the couple from one of their favorite date nights. For the reception, they were seated at wooden feasting tables with mismatched water goblets and dining chairs- an ode to the eccentric setting of the venue. The loose blooms trailed down the center of the tables giving them a subtle, but beautiful touch.

…And the aforementioned bullseye escort card display. So neat!

Lindsey explains, We had turkey and pork loin, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, and roasted Brussels sprouts served family style so that everyone would have to pass and share the meal, just like you would at a family gathering at your grandmother’s. We had kids running around without shoes, quirky garden décor hidden between tropical plants, and those who ventured out farther than the courtyard may have met the resident pot bellied pig (who made her rounds prior to the ceremony) and snapped a picture with a large velociraptor statue (probably not much like your grandmother’s). We also chose to forego cake and have pies. The pie we cut was a Key Lime Pie with a large meringue on top, but we also had a classic apple, coconut cream, French chocolate silk, and a maple bourbon brown butter peach. Biggest regret was flying out on our honeymoon without having finished off all the pies!

Their first dance was to I Will Be Blessed by Ben Howard. Taylor was deployed to Afghanistan soon after the big day, so they were extra appreciative that Renee Nicole Photography captured all these beautiful moments for them!

If I could give any advice to brides who are thinking of planning a wedding, I would say consider hiring a wedding planner, or at least have someone with experience in planning a wedding who can listen to what you want even when no one else wants to. Sometimes I felt like I was going to go crazy with all the suggestions from everyone around me, and when I wasn’t 100% sure of what I wanted, my voice sometimes felt drowned out. With a good wedding planner you have someone who is there to listen and advocate for you, and reign you in when you’re being a little unreasonable. Ha ha!

We’re with ya, Lindsey! Cheers to the happy couple!
