Moody wedding portrait

The concept behind this wedding editorial with styling + florals by Antheia Floral sure is unique: urban and moody in a neutral palette with lunar motifs. Intrigued yet? Prepare to fall in love with how this theme comes to life in the florals, fashion, cake and more, all documented by Riana Lisbeth at Teatro in downtown Calgary…

It’s not every day you see a wedding color palette of black, charcoal, and nude, but it couldn’t be more beautiful. Swooning over this invitation suite by Modern Pulp!

One of the looks from Anya Dionne featured a grey painted skirt with a lace crop top and a cream suede skirt with a fitted lace bodice for a little more romance.

I used touches of cotton and dried flowers in a hanging garland for the ceremony as an homage to an herb drying rack, and used white florals throughout for classic romance.

BTW, this cake? It’s actually a two-in-one. The geometric lunar phase is on the front, and you’ll just have to flip through our gallery at the bottom of the post to see what’s on the back…

On capturing the details, from Riana LisbethComing into this shoot and seeing all the beautiful decor and greenery in the venue I knew it was going to be perfect for how dark and moody I typically like to shoot. I spent a good amount of time focusing on the light and using the shadows and highlights to accentuate all the details and the emotions between the couple. What made it better was having a real couple who had such a great connection where nothing felt forced and made the whole day flow so gracefully.

Congrats on such a successful moody wedding shoot!
