Rustic California garden wedding: Chelsea + Tad

June 1, 2016

Thought we’d ring in June with a little nod to mother nature via Chelsea and Tad’s gorgeous bohemian-rustic nuptials, if you don’t mind. For their big day, Chelsea envisioned trees, greenery, lots of people and lots of love—nothing more, nothing less. With the help of Ranch to Coast Weddings + photos to remember it by from elate photography, that’s exactly what they got.

Chelsea says, Our bouquets were so beautiful and perfect. So were the flowers on tables. I refused to throw any of them away and have them dried out around my house in bottles or hanging on walls! I had my friend Julia Heit Floral do my flowers… She’s so talented! I wanted to make sure they didn’t look too put together or “girly” so my bouquet was made with lots of eucalyptus, white garden roses, spirit, camellia foliage, and astilbe. On the tables and in bridesmaids bouquets there were pops of yellow and dark red (yellow yarrow, dark red scabiosa) along with eucalyptus and baby’s breath.

When deciding on décor, they thought about their home and all the things they loved, like bottles and vintage wooden details with lots of green + rust orange throughout. Such a good way to start the design process, huh? She tells it, I had some small deer antlers, old horse shoes, and vintage metal tool boxes on the main tables. I had a sign for the entrance that said our names and wedding date, a sign with the quote, “with my whole heart for my whole life,” a sign that said “just married” and a sign for the bar that I made myself. I found random pieces of old wood and painted them. I also made a large wooden frame that had old rusty wire and close pins holding photos of us.

So this incredible Watters gown from Lovely Bride LA? It was an all over lace dress with off the shoulder short sleeves but Chelsea decided to get it transformed into a long sleeve… Just shows you can make any dress your own!
