Romantic snowy Colorado mountain wedding: Leah + Jared

Snowy Colorado wedding

In case you didn’t know, Dunton Hot Springs Resort is a Colorado ghost town that can be rented out in its entirety for weddings and events. All. Of. It. Nestled in an alpine valley among the Colorado Rockies, it’s both remote and welcoming, luxurious and totally natural. So yeeeeah, we can see why Leah + Jared chose to leave Texas (in January no less) for their winter destination wedding.

Thanks the talented Brooke Pavel for sharing the photos!

On the ring… My engagement ring is an emerald, which is also my birthstone and favorite gemstone. Jared and I actually had the ring made by a local jeweler Deustch & Deustch after realizing no one really sells solitaire emerald rings. I’m not sure why I strayed from the typical diamond engagement ring, but an emerald just felt right more me. But because I had an emerald engagement ring, I knew I wanted a diamond wedding band… Luckily, we found a great jeweler who was willing to work with us and listen to all of my crazy ideas about emeralds and diamond bands.

Leah says, I didn’t always know I would do a destination wedding, but both Jared and I love to travel, so it seemed like a perfect fit for us. Plus we knew that we are not quite typical wedding people, so we were willing to take a risk and do our own thing and hoped our friends and family didn’t think we were too crazy. At first a January wedding in Colorado was a tough sell to both of our parents, but I love winter weddings. I love all of the white and how beautiful it looks. I think I’ve always known that I would have a winter wedding. I went with lots of white since it was a winter wedding and then just natural décor. Nothing too fussy, just kept it simple. We wanted the wedding to be a fun experience for everyone, more like a vacation where Jared and I happened to get married one day.

Did we mention that the bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic guitar version of the Game of Thrones theme? Fun fact!

After such a unique wedding location, you can only assume their honeymoon was epic too, right? They chose Kruger National Park, South Africa and Benguerra, Mozambique on the recommendation of their travel agent friend, Maren of Frosch Travel.

Cheers!
