Indie Houston, Texas wedding: Alice + Paul

We’re ending the week with two very rad couples that had some pretty great DIY decor ideas, and some not so traditional ones that are just too perfect for a Friday morning. Most of the things Alice + Paul did at their wedding went against tradition. They didn’t want a grand send off so instead had a grand entrance. The bridal party traveled from the ceremony to the reception in a van equipped with a police siren and loud speaker. As they pulled up to the reception, guests greeted them outside as they blared “This is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. That must have been hilarious. Then there are all the creative and custom pieces Jennifer Laura Design made and decorated the reception with. So good!

This string art piece is so cool! Jennifer Laura and her husband built it together, and Alice + Paul now use it as the headboard in their bedroom. Win, win!

Love this table runner. Such a fun & easy project to make using scraps of colorful fabric.

Laura took their engagement photos and had them blown up and set up like an art installation as a surprise to the couple.

Great advice from Alice…

I absolutely loved our wedding planner, its difficult to plan a wedding and hold down a full time job at the same time. I have been to a few weddings where guests are put to work, I think having a planner is a great idea for everyone to put into their budget so that their friends and family can come to the wedding, relax, have a good time and not worry about completing a task. I tell every bride to be that they should at the very least get a day of coordinator, being able to take it easy before your wedding ceremony is worth every penny.
