Remember when we first told you about Runaway: A Pop Up Wedding? Brilliant idea, yes? Well today we’re excited to show you how it all went down. The concept Sitting in a Tree, Rad + In Love, Yeah! Rentals, Pitbulls and Posies, Bloem Hill, A MIHO experience, and The Hostess Haven dreamt up was all about a lovingly handcrafted yet still affordable and stress-free elopement. So, by combining their talents for one day only, this rad crop of vendors was able to bring a dream wedding to five couples on a Sunday afternoon.
Here’s Sitting in a Tree with the deets: Each couple booked a time slot at our ‘popup’ ceremony venue. They were greeted with either a bouquet or a floral crown, and food and celebratory drinks in a styled private waiting lounge. After some food and cocktails, our brides walked down the aisle to a guitarist strumming a song of their choice. Each couple had the option to use their own vows and modify the ceremony performed by Lara, our amazing officiant, and bring a handful of guests as witnesses.
After each wedding, the couples hopped into a decked out van with the gals from Rad + In Love, and spent time celebrating and being photographed in a nearby park.
We provided San Diego travel guides for our couples who had traveled from some near and some really far places to be with us. Each couple walked away with marriage certificates, announcements to share with friends and family, and their bouquet or flower crown.
Being a part of five different weddings on that day was truly amazing! One couple traveled from Canada, another brought their kids, some couples snuck away and told no one, while others brought all sorts of friends and family to witness a vow renewal. They wore polka dots, sequins, orange, lace… you name it. They cried, laughed, kissed, danced—each couple truly put their own unique spin on the day and left feeling like they had the wedding of their dreams on a shoestring budget.
