Sparkly Ace Hotel Palm Springs wedding: Erin + Blair

Palm Springs weddings always feel like the best place to experiment with style. You can go totally bright and modern, keep with the muted color palette of the desert, or completely invent your own design. Erin + Blair would describe the style of their wedding as mid century modern inspired with soft, romantic elements and a bit playful (they used sequin tableclothes and donuts instead of a cake!). Being from Canada, this was their destination wedding. They even considered France at one point, however the Ace Hotel was a shoe-in. From the architecture and design to the menu at the King’s Highway restaurant the Ace was just so them.

After we booked our wedding at the Ace I attempted to plan the wedding myself. As the owner of two boutiques I found myself completely and utterly overwhelmed. I was the first of my friends and I was totally unaware of all the details involved in planning a wedding. This is when I joined forces with the two magnificent ladies at Beau & Arrow. From our first email correspondence I just knew that these girls “got” me, and from that point on planning our wedding was a breeze.

Erin walked down the aisle to “Moon River” sung by Audrey Hepburn, from the Breakfast at Tiffany’s soundtrack. And their first dance was to “You’re the One” by the Black Keys.

My best memory from the day was seeing Blair for the first time. I had already seen him in his suit, but just seeing the look in his eye when he saw me in my dress for the first time is a moment I will remember forever. There was also a really fun moment after the ceremony when we were in our suite with the wedding party relaxing and having a few drinks before the reception when all of a sudden a spontaneous dance party broke out (the song “how do you like me now” by The Heavy was playing)! It was a moment when I felt so surrounded by love and joy and I thought “this is the best day of my life”.
