100 Layer Cake

This serene & stylish elopement is coming to us from the talented husband & wife photography duo, Danielle and Kevin of The Why We Love. FYI, they’re also offering their services for major discount in the Pop-Up Shop today! We’re such fans, and so are Renee + Scott. They swooned at the chance to tell us how they instantly felt a connection with them, were obsessed with how they captured the entire day on film, and how they shared many of the same interests and artistic eye for their Big Sur elopement.

Renee made her bridal bouquet using her own air plants from home and yellow and orange billy balls she picked up at a local market.

Before traveling down for our elopement we celebrated with family and friends in the backyard of our West Seattle home. The theme was “West Coast Is For Lovers.” It was the perfect send off! Having the party before we left instead of when we got back made it very stress free and had us glowing with love and support on our travels!

Our best friend of 15+ years, Brett, was our officiant. The vows were completely tailored by him, including surprise messages from our parents and personal notes to us, from him. These notes from everyone really had us laughing and crying. We also read our own vows to each other. We even had our wedding song play in the background on an iPhone – “I Go to the Barn Because I Like the” by Band of Horses.

On our wedding day we felt we were amongst friends we had known for years.  Danielle & Kevin truly made us feel we could be ourselves. We left a lot of the details up to them, even where the ceremony would take place and were confident in whatever their vision would be. Sure, we had big dreams of sun drenched wedding moments, but Big Sur had other ideas! The clouds rolled in and out, as they do, and The Why We Love worked with it beautifully to give us something we couldn’t have been able to picture. The end result was a romantic collection of how we truly remember Big Sur; eerily pretty with a uniqueness all it’s own. We felt so very lucky to have them be a part of our elopement!
