Philadelphia farm wedding: Jackie + Matt

August 28, 2012
philly farm wedding

We have yet to meet a bride like Jackie. Believe it or not (we didn’t at first), the dress she wore for her ceremony was actually a dress she had stashed away in her “dress-up” box from childhood. Wild, right? And pretty stinkin’ adorable. If bits of Jackie + Matt’s wedding feel a little Wes Anderson inspired, that’s because it kind of is. Just take a look at their save the date. They’re a quirky bunch that made sure their 74 guests were taken care of in a casual & fun environment on a budget of $10k!

Since Jackie didn’t spend a penny on her ceremony dress…  we’re giving her major kudos for her brilliant idea to splurge on her dream Maison Martin Margiela sequin-splashed leather booties!

After the ceremony Jackie changed into a vintage Gunne Sax dress that she bought on Etsy for $15!

Major money saver: for all the table arrangements, Jackie purchased flowers & succulents from Trader Joe’s.

Matt & I both have very eclectic taste in music so it was important to draw upon that in creating our playlists, especially since we used our computer as our DJ… We played everything from Otis Redding to General Public to France Gall. Matt walked down the aisle to Bob Dylan “You Belong to Me,” I walked down to Nico “These Days,” and the recessional was The Bobby Fuller Four “Let Her Dance” (all played by the amazing Christopher Bohn on the acoustic guitar).

Got any more tips Jackie? Believe in your vision, even if others can’t necessarily see the end result immediately. Once everything comes together it’s certainly worth all the blood, sweat, & DIY tears, and if doesn’t – let go…in the end all that matters is that you’re marrying your best friend. Make it your own! Everyone has an opinion when it comes to how things should look & be, and although some input is nice we were glad we executed everything on our terms. Also, use Tin Sparrow! Matt & Anna were awesome not only as photographers, but they provided such a calming effect throughout the entire process…and their work speaks for itself!
