It’s the weekend, so you’re most likely going to start working on those wedding projects (you’ve been putting off), yes? We know this – that’s why we’re bringing you another gem of inspiration today. Think of it as a little kick start! A woodsy, classy one filled with pie, a cake so pretty you swear it was made of silk, and a couple who met while playing volleyball (that also refuses to play on the same team to prevent arguments due to their competitive nature). Christine + Andrew are simply adorable, and their wedding…well, it is too!

We played an instrumental version of “The Sound of Settling” by Death Cab for Cutie for the bridesmaids entrance. I walked in to Iron and Wine’s ”Such Great Heights”. We exited to Bruno Mars’ “Marry You”. First dance to Elton John’s, ”Your Song”, and our last dance was sentimental – it was “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploader. Me, my sister and cousins always listened to that song when I would drive us around and rock out.

Talk about a gorgeous outdoor wedding.

Christine wanted to add a playful theme to her already elegant wedding, so she had her sister design the “Keep Calm and Carry On” poster with a twist. The groom with the ball and chain with his little bride next to him was also carried out in their escort cards, table numbers, and programs.

My bridesmaid, June did all my flowers and bouquets – she is amazing!! We went to the San Francisco Flower Mart and picked out a bunch of blooms from hydrangeas to roses to dahlias. I originally really wanted anemones but they weren’t in season, so I had them designed into my cake instead!

We’re not alone in thinking this cake is drop dead gorgeous, right?

The pie was a total surprise to Andrew. He had recently discovered Pie Fridays - a food cart owned by a woman that sets up her pie cart every Friday in the Mission District of San Francisco and sells delicious pies. Her husband brought out the pie cart after we cut the cake to surprise Andrew with some key lime pie, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. The pies were the hit of the night, everyone lined up and had a blast trying different slices!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Cakelets! And a big congrats to Christine + Andrew!

We love the couple twist on the “Keep Calm and Carry On” poster. That’s been a good reminder to both of us throughout our relationship. And of course, we’re big fans of the Nestldown venue and it does this wedding justice. Lovely work.
Beautiful! Love the location and the pie surprise was a fun addition!
Wow what a magnificent back drop for the ceremony, where was that. That was also a difficult shot for the photographer because the top of the shot there was so much light and the bottom of the shot was darker. It is also great if you can find a friend or family to arrange your flowers. Im going to be in my good girlfriend wedding and possibly helping her with her floral arrangement. The SF flower mart is amazing and if you know someone with a sellers permit even better and more flowers to choose from.
the cake is TOTALLY drop dead gorgeous!!!
