Modern California wedding: Lindsey + Aaron

October 13, 2011

The LA lovin’ that’s happening in today’s wedding might have you considering a move to sunny California. Lindsey + Aaron’s wedding has all the makings of a true California experience. Palm trees, a view of the Pacific Ocean, a white hot dance floor (literally), and a stunning blend of modern patterns in a sunset color scheme. The list of amazing vendors involved in making this Cali wedding superb is too long to list, so just keep reading to see for yourself!

The Bel-Air Bay Club is quintessential California. We knew we wanted an open-air view, and searched up and down the entire Southern California coast before we found BABC. It is rarely listed on wedding vendor sites, but I happen to find it inadvertently looking at a photographer’s portfolio. We went to visit the venue and instantly fell in love. It was perfect. Although it was more than we originally hoped to spend on a venue, we had to make it work. It was our splurge.

From Jesi: Lindsey really loves modern Jonathan Adler style decor, so Carissa from JL Designs really killed it to create a tablescape that reflected that. White chiavari chairs went amazingly with the white dance floor, and worked great to really understate the fact that we were in a ballroom.  The retro print linens from Latavola were key in us achieving our modern, yet sunset vibe. As far as the master behind the homemade jams and jam jars, that’s all Aaron’s aunt, Jan Bail. She flew them out all the way from Chicago! They served as dual purpose favors/seat assignments with a cute little note, “Jam Over to Your Seat” to tie it all in.

Then came the dancing. Their first dance song was a special one. They danced to Ray LaMontagne’s, You Are the Best Thing – which also played when Aaron proposed! Listen to it here:

How can you not hit the dance floor this hard when DJ Smiles Davis is on the turntables and you’ve got an entire white dance floor for the night! Curious to know the song that kicked off their dance party? Groove is in the Heart by Deee-Lite.

Congrats to the happy couple!
