Elegant Connecticut wedding: Cameron + Josh

September 1, 2011

One look at today’s couple and you’ll see why Charlotte Jenks Lewis found it a breeze to photograph them – they’re one naturally attractive couple, these two. Plus, they’ve got a knack for knowing what looks good. Cameron is the Senior Designer at Aeropostale, and Josh is a stylist for American Eagle (brownie points if you recognize him for his widely known inflatable bag monsters street art). The Wadsworth Mansion, a historic home stretching across an impressive piece of land, was the perfect setting for their elegant, timeless, personal and simple wedding. This is one wedding that won’t ever look dated 5, even 10 years from now!

In memory of Cameron’s father, who passed away of lung cancer 5 years ago, the officiant suggested they make a pouch to hold their rings out of something that belonged to him. Cameron sewed the pouch you see above from one her father’s ties, and during the ceremony the pouch was passed among all of their guests so that each person could hold it to their hearts a give a blessing to the couple.

Cameron is a bit of a stationery lover, so invitations and other paper goods was where she wanted to splurge (we’re suckers for lovely paper goods here too, so you go girl!). They worked with the awesome Mr. Boddington’s Studio in NYC to create a classy letterpressed invitation suite.

This tent from Sperry Tents is just gorgeous!

They used a calligrapher out of Texas named Tara Jones to do the calligraphy on their envelopes, escort cards, and the lettering on the illustrated signs that Josh hand painted for the lemonade station, photo booth and the guest sign-in cards.

We became slightly obsessed with the idea of collecting milk glass to use as the vessels for the flowers, and I think after scouring eBay, Etsy and every Goodwill, we collected about 115 pieces!  We really wanted  to create an eclectic feeling so that each table felt slightly different. It also allowed us to give away the vases and flowers to guests at the end of the night…and at the end of the night, there wasn’t a vase left in sight!
