An eclectic, whimsical London wedding

June 13, 2011

Today’s wedding is so marvelous that we couldn’t wait to share it with you all to start the week. The unexpected contrast between the high-end sophistication and elegance of the venue, paralleled with elements of fantasy and whimsical details in this London wedding are such a fun diversion from so many weddings we see!

The couple has asked that they not be shown in today’s feature, so out of respect to them we have chosen to focus on the details. No worries, there is so much to see here folks that you’ll hardly miss seeing an image of the dress – we promise!

We could never imagine the Carlton Club, a historic clubhouse in St. James, Mayfair, oozing with priceless pieces of historical art could be transformed to what you’ll see in the photos below!

Hundreds of grey balloons bundled together with an underlying neon lighting equals major WOW factor!

Are the details killing you yet? Fiona Leahy, extraordinary event designer, who knocked this wedding to an entirely new level of fantastic had the bride to thank for much of the concept. It’s not hard to collaborate with a bride when she’s got amazing taste, so Fiona found it easy to channel the bride’s aesthetic with a downplayed elegance, shades of grey and hundreds of flowers that were displayed to look as though they had been plucked from a dream meadow.

For the dinner tables, Fiona wanted it to look like they had raided a Grand Uncles country home and used all the family silver in an unexpected way. She looked to using trophies, condiment sets, magnifying glasses and all other beautiful objects that can often be seen in cupboards.

Um, hello! We want Amber and Nisha of The Broken Hearts to DJ our next party. These ladies look like they know how to bring it!

To be a guest at this wedding, right? There’s no denying that this wedding is by far one of the most unique we’ve ever seen. The concept is entirely original, makes us feel as though we’ve stepped into both Alice in Wonderland and The Young Victoria, and reminds us how much we love weddings! A huge thank you to Dorothée and Annabel of Belathée Photography for sharing their amazing talent and Fiona Leahy for giving us a glimpse into what went into designing this wedding.
