We have such a cute wedding for you all this morning. Shot by Jillian’s super awesome hubby, Scott Clark, (Garret is a good friend of his), these pics will make you want to rethink your ceremony space. It helps when the bride’s family has the perfect tree nestled on their family property.

BUT Mel spent 6 months on her crafty wedding decor. Which is an excellent point to bring up… if you plan to do all sorts of things for your wedding, you can’t start the month before. You have to PLAN. And start way in advance. We digress.

Let’s just move on to the photos and you’ll see what we mean.

Yes, she made that headpiece. HELLO!

See what we mean??? The “Y” shaped tree!! The bunting and airy drapes! The vintage rugs! Tis almost too much to take in. (All made by the bride, of course).

Mel and her mom sprouted Oak saplings as guest favors.

And they made all the desserts two weeks before the wedding.

(Which reminds us, have you seen Rachel‘s cookie spreadsheet she used for her sister’s wedding? It’s a good reference if you plan on doing this stuff yerself.)

Instead of speeches, they set up a stage and let guests do impromptu performances for the newlyweds.

Doesn’t that look like a fun (and incredibly cute) party? Thanks so much for letting us post your weddin’ Mel and Garret! You guys are in the running for craftiest wedding of the year.

Ceremony/Reception location: Bride’s family home / Photography: Scott Clark Photo / Caterer: Anacapa BBQ / Hair/Make up Stylist: Gloria Noto, friend + stylist / Flowers: Sarah Lowing, friend / Dress: Nicole Miller / Feather Headpiece & boutonnières: made by the bride

  11. SO ADORABLE!! Any chance we could know the overall budget? Looks like it fits under the budget-savvy bride…which is me too. :)

  12. Hi Christine, That’s a really good question. I’ll contact the bride and see if she’d be willing to share that information. ~jillian

  13. Mel and Garrett are on the road for there honeymoon but she got back to me with a few more details regarding cost;

    From the Bride:

“Thanks so much for posting our wedding! As far as money goes, I don’t know the exact number but it all cost between $9,000 and $10,000. We kept it relatively cheap by doing as much as we could ourselves (desserts, decor, you know!) and only hiring caterers. No one else! (except Scotty!). My dress was also a bit pricey (for my budget) but I ended up finding it and buying it on e-bay for cheap!!!!

    Thanks again for everything!”

  14. How lovely! The shots are so pretty. This must have been such a fun wedding to have been at!

  15. What a lovely wedding! I am passing this along to my son and his fiance…there are many wonderful ideas here that they may be able to incorporate into their ceremony…or may give them some of their own creative ideas.

  22. this is a really nice blog, lots of information and idea, thanks for sharing.

  23. Soo beautiful. I love the peacock feathers that are sweeping the wedding world. And the fabric is too die for!

  24. What a fantastic spot to hold your wedding ceremony. I simply adore outdoor wedding ceremonies. Sprouting oak tree seedlings was a real thoughtful way for your mother to help the guests retain something physical from the wedding ceremony for many years to come.

  25. Buying a new dress for each new occasion can be a fun thing to do but it can be dangerous for the pocket at the same time. A pocket friendly alternative to this problem is the availability of the wholesale dresses. As it suggests, wholesale dresses are a lot cheaper than the designer wear and high priced prom dresses.

  26. I though my wedding was craft-a-licious, this one has me way-beat. I love it when creative minds decide to get hitched, makes for wonderful eye-candy. I wish I was the photographer for this wedding!

  27. Love the groom’s vest! Any chance I can find out where it came from?
