Modern Texas wedding at Prospect House: Sarah + Drew

January 23, 2017

A sunny, cheerful bunch of blooms is a pretty good way to start off the week, don’t you think? We love Sarah + Drew’s motto for their modern Texas wedding: not too formal, but well styled, and lots of fun. In other words, there was tons of food, champagne all around, and great music. Thanks to Matthew + Katie from Matthew Moore Photography for sharing the photos!

Oh and this sweet venue, Prospect House in Dripping Springs, TX? They booked it before it was even built! The owner walked them through their vision, and they knew that even though it was a big leap of faith, it was totally what they wanted. Success!

We wanted our wedding to represent both of us: not too formal, but well styled with fun accents all over the place. We chose poppy and gold as our color scheme (Sarah LOVES gold), with hints of a rustic dark blue/green as accents. But most of all, we wanted it to be FUN. There was a bourbon bar, a beer garden, a donut truck, food was served family style, and people were greeted with their choice of champagne or beer to drink before and even during the ceremony. Yes, it was our wedding, but it’s also a celebration of our family and friends who got us here, so we wanted to make sure we kept it interesting and different so we’d all have a great time!

The bouquet had peonies, poppies, ranunculus, and tulips following the poppy, tangerine, kumquat, golden, lemon, blush, and cream color story.

This color palette really does just make our day. So fresh and vibrant!

The Nouveau Romantics were also our designers and florists. So they worked to create an amazingly individualized design for us. This included elements such as 1) the “guestbook” which was an inkblot map of the world with the words “Je T’aime” scripted over it, 2) A bourbon bar with bourbons handpicked by Drew that were tasted as part of his bachelor party on the bourbon trail in Kentucky, 3) A blown up, back-lit floral picture that served as an amazing backdrop for our DJ, The Flashdance,  4) A custom light and foliage arrangement hanging in the center of the reception hall.

When it came to planning, they actually did the first half from overseas while living in Belgium. Luckily, they hooked up with their planners locally first, which made things easier to manage. Sarah’s advice is not to second guess yourself. There’s a ton of difference choices to make, but if you’re thoughtful about decisions, there’s no reason to question them. So true!
