Photog Jessica Garmon sent this sweet Texas e-sesh our way along with a note about Nima and Jessica C.. They’ve been together for 10 years and renovated a house together, filling it with collections from their travels, art, and modern décor. It’s no wonder they chose their home as the locale for their engagement shoot. Jessica G. says, They are some of the most gracious hosts I’ve ever had. The entire session was captured in film, with it’s grain and richness I felt it was the perfect medium to showcase the beautiful emotions displayed by this loving couple.

They have two adorable roomies too… Wild kitties that were born under the home outside that they took in.

Their story:

Nima and I felt so fortunate to live and work together in the Oak Cliff cottage we spent a year renovating. The rooms of our house had been filled with competitive banter, our favorite tunes, collected curiosities, lots of affection, and the pitter-patter of paws from our two kittens.  We were completely satisfied with where we were and how we had arrived there. Soon enough, after over a decade together, we finally decided to get married. One Sunday afternoon in October, I was lying down for a nap, having just returned from a visit to Austin. Nima came home from having coffee with a friend, and when he woke me up he just started babbling. He stopped himself after a while and summed it up: “I think we should get married.” And that was that. No ring, no plans—but that suited us. We talked for a few months about eloping, but after some pressure (and wisdom) from our moms to see a celebration, we surrendered to something intimate in Dallas.

When I researched photographers, I felt at a loss. I wanted something different and a little gritty. The pictures should be beautiful but I didn’t want them to feel contrived.  The few leads I found online were booked, granted I was looking a little late in the game. A friend was asking around and someone told her about Jessica Garmon. After fanning through some of the pictures on her website, we felt we had really found something. She met with us at a coffee shop, and after talking a bit, Nima and I thought her approach was right on. She sort of tried us on for size too… We think it was an incredible match! Engagement photos were not a part of our plan, but Jessica includes them in her package because she feels it’s a great way for everyone to get to know each other and feel more comfortable in front of the camera. We threw out taking a few photos at our house and Jessica loved the idea. To us, no other place felt more natural and after all the work we had done, the place represented a huge labor of love. We could not have anticipated how inspired Jessica would be when she arrived…. and how special the photos would be. We will treasure them all the rest of our days!

Congrats guys!
