Martha features a same sex wedding

Categories   Real Weddings

Now, we’re not in the habit of getting all political on this blog, but we thought this was a noteworthy occasion and one that shouldn’t go without applause. In the Winter 2010 issue of MS Weddings, there is for the first time to our knowledge, a same sex wedding! If that’s not a statement about the way the wedding industry feels about such a sensitive topic, we’re not sure what is! Go Martha (and team)!

Congrats, Jeremy and Andrew, though clearly you did not send this to us, nor are you reading our blog. But congrats on your lovely wedding anyway. And hooray for letting people love and legally commit to whomever they chose.

Wow I have to say that I'm very proud of Martha. She always seems so stuffy and's awesome to see her celebrating marriages of all kinds.

Way to go, Martha Stewart! I think this is fabulous and lovely. We should all take a moment to realize that love knows no race, gender, or otherwise. Marriage is a human right, not a heterosexual privilege.

This is absolutely fantastic- atta way Martha!!!

Wedded Twist on Jan 6, 2010

Isn't it sad this is "political"? Hopefully in 50 years we'll look at images like these with the same nonchalance we have now when look at photos of weddings where the bride and groom are different races. For now, I'll celebrate the acceptance! Jess is right: "Yay love!" I love their dapper outfits!

Lisa Marie on Jan 7, 2010

It's about time!

michelle may on Jan 7, 2010

love it. finally. When MA gay marriages became legal it coincided on the exact same day that we unveiled our sister site! We have been happily creating invitations and holiday cards/announcements for gay marriages ever since! I am so glad to work for a company as with it as mine! {bravo martha}

Kristina (Pretty Shiny Sparkly) on Jan 7, 2010

That's great! What a great first step!

sarah on Jan 7, 2010

Totally about time. Gay marriages are legal in Ontario (Canada) and it great to see a mainstream magazine be more representitive of marriage. Kudos to the MSW team.

I'm so proud of the members of this post and the age that we live in today. I can't tell you how many blogs I read with negative feedback about things and it's so refreshing to see open minded, amazing individuals on a united front - who ALL LOVE WEDDINGS! :) Congratulations gentlemen, it was lovely!!

Erin on Jan 19, 2010

So happy to see this! Hopefully this is just another sign that things are changing for the better around here :)
