Isn’t this wedding portrait by Jessie Schultz Photography too perfect? Amanda + Tory had both envisioned outdoor weddings enveloped in nature (preferably the ocean and desert) when they were younger, so when they began searching for a venue they knew they shared the same vision. Casa Romantica in San Clemente not only boasts sweeping ocean views, but a cactus and succulent garden too. Meant to be or what?!
A few notes from the team… The design inspiration mostly came from the life changing music movement of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, but also included the colors and elements of the desert coast. Simply put, Coachella meets beach vibe. These themes came to life through the use of peacock rattan chairs, Franciscan glassware, turquoise jewelry, guipure lace, cactus, yucca, and geodes. To give it a modern flare, protea, tillandsia, and geometric terrariums were also used. Can we talk about the Birchwood Tepee?! Their love is wild and free and this was a perfect photo op for the pair with the pacific ocean glistening in the background.
Amanda’s gown is a custom design from IeIe Bridal Boutique while working with their seamstress Wendy. A never wanted to spend thousands on a gown she’d only wear once, and wanted the dress to feel a little different than your typical dress. It ended up being a 70s inspired dress she felt like herself in, while still being special and unique for the occasion. Bohemian perfection!
Amanda says, When I first saw proteas I was obsessed. I loved how sharp and edgy they appeared and yet still maintained a feminine, elegant look. There were also dahlias, succulents, ferns, eucalyptus and a giant Philodendron leaf. I wanted tons of greenery in my bouquet but still wanted the protea to stand out. Cassie of Wildflower Florist was the most amazing florist, the bouquets she made were the coolest 70s floral goodness I could ever have imagined.
A + T designed their invites together, he designed the menus at each table, and the vinyl record display, signs, macramé, and the succulent party favors were all handpainted by his grandmother. They also designed their photo backdrop, which makes total sense considering Tory owns a photo booth company!
Film by Take Heart Films.
Final words from our bride… As soon as we kissed I looked at my parents in the front row and had probably the shortest second of eye contact but it seemed to completely stop time. They smiled at me, and I then turned around to tell my bridesmaids I loved them before I walked back down the aisle with my husband and they gave me that same loving expression. It was really awesome.
Congrats, Amanda and Tory!
