Sooo you can probably tell from the title, we have a pretty fun wedding to share today. Glamping? Yes please. Both working in tech, Ligaya and Russ always envisioned getting married outside, specifically somewhere in California with killer views. Once they hooked up with Shelter Co and landed on Dos Pueblos Ranch (where they could pitch tents for 160 guests and explore canyons, bluffs, redwood groves, vineyards, and the ocean… Hello!) things fell into place. Thanks to Our Labor of Love (highly recommended by L + R!) for sharing the photos!
Those blooms? Full of anemones, peonies, parrot tulips, dahlias, and protea, ferns, and greenery.
Isn’t L’s Monique Lhuillier bridal skirt + top kinda incredible? Her body chain totally transforms it. She says, Crop tops and high-waisted skirts and pants have been a staple of my warm weather wardrobe for years. When I put on that Monique Lhuillier two-piece which bared a few inches, it felt like just the right amount of edge and elegance. The matching set is made of ivory silk woven faille which lends great structure and drape. There’s a short train which we added a bit of bustle too which made dancing possible. This became my anchor piece from which to build around. Get inspo on her Pinterest!
Ligaya says, We are both fascinated with the natural world and cosmos. Our table cards were our favorite constellations and scattered throughout the property were signs bearing quotes from our favorite authors + scientists. We even got a telescope for the occasion! Our invites were poster style, with a watercolor map of the California coast on one side and information on the weekend on the other. They were sent folded in a dip-dyed muslin cloth bag with a sprig of rosemary inside. So much fun brainstorming this with Shelter Co and collaborating with Chelsea Petaja for calligraphy + Zargosy for design.
A string quartet from West Coast Music performed the Game of Thrones theme song during the processional. As I walked they moved into an instrumental version of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. The first dance song was a hard choice! We were torn: Should we go classic? Funky? Groovy? We settled on Something About Us by Daft Punk. They’re a group both of us really dig and the song conjured up good memories of past shows together.
A few tips and neat things L + R did for their day…
• Leave a few spots open on the guest lists for last minute additions
• Take the time to write your own vows, revisit them on your anniversary!
• They sat guests next to someone they knew and someone new they had similar interests with
• Multiple events over the weekend helped them spend time with everyone
Ligaya says, Being children of several ethnicities and cultures, we choose to instead create our own rites. First we spoke our appreciations for one another. Then understanding that we each must evolve and improve in different ways to meet the needs and wishes of the other, we shared individual vows. We ended by speaking the last six in unison as symmetric promises to one another as a pod of whales frolicked and spouted off in the ocean behind us.
So magical, huh? Congrats guys!
