Rustic homespun Colorado wedding: Kirsty + Sean

When it came time to plan their Colorado wedding, Kirsty + Sean already knew they wanted to have it at his parents’ property. That way, they could plan the day how they wanted, and the whole family could be involved. You can probably already tell from Meigan Canfield‘s first photo above that the locale has rustic wedding written all over it, but all their DIY projects really brought it to life…

Their wedding style was rustic with a bit of 20s glam. See K’s inspiration on her Pinterest!

Kirsty says, We hung the lights, we made the beer stands, all signs were made by us, the popcorn table, the doorway entry to the ceremony as well as the bridge leading up to the doors, the platform we stood on during the ceremony and my husband made the alter from scratch as well.

Because of their picnic style dinner + food trucks serving up BBQ, they didn’t have to keep too tight a count on the final guest list…. Such a perk!

We were engaged for 14 months. I started planning early because I knew that I didn’t want to be panicked at the last minute. I truly enjoyed the planning of my wedding… Sean and I spent a lot of weekends building things and getting ready for it and I do really miss that. I like things to be perfect, and I usually have an image in my head of exactly how I want things, the biggest hurdle was letting go of that. Best advice I could give Brides is to pick your best and most supportive friends to be in your wedding party. I had my two best friends as my Maid of Honors but everyone who stood with me was my family. They hustled all day to help with the things that were going wrong and did everything they could to be sure I had a stress free and happy day. I would not have been able to throw that wedding without my support system.

So sweet. Cheers you two!
