Romantic, floral, industrial Hudson Valley, NY wedding
Don’t know about you, but for us, there’s just something so so romantic about taking a modern industrial venue like Basilica Hudson and filling it to the brim with blooms (coral charm peonies, even!), one very happy couple, and 150 or so of their fave people. Just warms the space right up, you know? See more photos by Lev Kuperman and Regina + Ben’s story in the post!
Dark & Diamond created this beauty of a bouquet with coral charm peonies, burgundy ranunculus, white majolika spray roses, chocolate Queen Anne’s lace, white O’Hara garden roses, pink Astrantia, pink Astilbe, olive foliage, bay foliage, western fern, and plumosa fern.
With the ceremony + reception in the same venue, they opted for the historic Dr. Oliver Bronson House for their first look and portraits. It was a gem found by Regina’s mom that made for super unique photos.
With medical school as their main priority, R + B took their time with a three year engagement (although they didn’t start planning until a year and a half in). With such busy schedules, they enlisted confetti & co. to design the day, including lots of creative DIY projects and help bringing in thoughtful details from friends and fam. From sweets and catering prepared by different friends to enlisting a local diner for donuts, they wanted to make sure everyone was a part of it.
Isn’t this floral hoop for the altar absolutely stunning?!
Because we didn’t have a traditional aisle to walk down, the processional into the wedding was a more personal moment between Regina and her father. They did not have to see everyone’s faces as they entered. Then during the wedding, Regina and Ben looked mostly at each other and the readers. So, we turned around to process out of the wedding, and we saw the many faces smiling and crying, it reminded us how many people love us and how much we love them. It was nice to have that audience “reveal.”
Such a unique setup, right? Actually, Regina fell in love with Basilica Hudson back in 2005, because it was near her fam’s home. They’d been to quite a few events there over the years, but the big day still felt unique and magical in the same space. Meant to be!
We wanted our wedding to be celebratory. Regina had just graduated from medical school 10 days earlier and after four years of long distance, this was the prize at the end of a long journey. We wanted nothing to be stuffy and everything to be about a celebration of our love. We chose confetti & co. as our designer/planner because she had designed a wedding for two dogs that Regina loved that she saw on Buzzfeed years earlier. Regina does not even like dogs, but she loved Sara’s festive, yet refined, style. Blush, gold, sequins, greenery, and marble were the theme. Ben studied ferns in college and so we knew ferns had to be incorporated in some way. We also designed a rose gold ring with Ben’s family diamond for the engagement ring and from there, pinks and gold made their way into the wedding. When Sara put something marble into the wedding plans, we both immediately knew marble had to also be woven in.
Did we mention that these two love to entertain and throw parties? They’re obv pros, now!
Their story…Ben is really tall. I walked into biology class in college (at the University of Chicago) and for some reason, was drawn to the tall guy in the corner as I had never seen him before. I asked him if the class had lab partners. He shrugged. It did, so we paired up. Turns out we were both from Westchester county and grew up about 10 miles from one another. Ben was the first lab partner who ever edited my work and did more of the project than I did. We used to sort of argue and our TA would say—you guys will get married someday.

We were engaged for three years before we got married ten days after I graduated from medical school. Then after our honeymoon in Paris, I began my Family Medicine residency in Chicago and now we are expecting a little guy (to be named Henry Hudson) two weeks before our first wedding anniversary.
The sweetest. Cheers, you two!
