Romantic Charleston wedding: Marian + Peter

April 25, 2017
Romantic Charleston wedding

This venue. So charming, right? Marian + Peter both love Charleston, and since most of their 200 guests had never been, they wanted to bring everyone together at two great spots: historic French Huguenot Church for the ceremony, and Lowndes Grove for the reception. Being big fans of 1920s, they incorporated Gatsby-esque deets, like a cocktail hour lawn party with croquet, cornhole, and a blue grass band. Choosing Elizabeth Messina to capture it all was the easiest decision they made during their nearly 2 year engagement, and Tara Guérard Soirée made their vision a reality.

M’s biggest struggle was finding the dress. She wanted it to be totally “her” yet still flow with the venue and design. This Monique Lhuillier she customized with different sleeve options did the trick!

Their welcome party had a Gatsby theme, with everyone celebrating in costume. So fun!

Marian says, I walked down the aisle to A Thousand Years played by a string quartet. After we were married we walked out to Sam Smith’s Stay With Me sung by a Gospel choir. Our first dance was to a song that we both love, Phish’s If I Could. An unconventional wedding song but one that has a lot of meaning to us. Peter is a huge Phish fan; I know probably all of two Phish songs but I have loved this song for years and it just seemed like a no brainer as our first dance.

Like we said, both venues seem pretty darn amaze.

Peter and I love Charleston and its southern charm and we loved bringing our family and friends to a place a lot of them had never been and giving them a proper southern Charleston experience. An old historic church like the French Huguenot and an old plantation like Lowndes Grove fit into the theme perfectly.

Peter’s fave moment: Watching Marian walk down the aisle, knowing my life was about to change in the best way possible.
And Marian’s: Dancing to our first dance, feeling like it was just the two of us in the room laughing and loving every minute of it.

Congrats, guys! Cakies, be sure to check out all the deets that went into M + P’s day below:
