Moody glam New Years Eve wedding on Vancouver Island
Oh, how we love opening the 100LC inbox to an NYE wedding. We mean, you take the glitz and glam of a New Years Eve party, add in literally all of your favorite people, oh, and somewhere in there you tie the knot. Yep, totally our thing. Especially when it’s as intimate and creative as florist Lynda of FLEURtacious and her guy Steve’s. Their theme was “dark and sparkly” which was right at home at The View Victoria on Vancouver Island. Thanks to Rivkah Photography for the most enchanting photos…
The whole vibe of the day was inspired by the bride and groom’s fave shoes… We both have a love for Fluevog Shoes and were shopping together one day when Steve tried on an amazing pair of wingtip oxfords. I purchased them for him but told him they needed to be saved for a special occasion. Our wedding ended up being that special occasion and we both wore a beautiful pair of Vogs! Since we work within the wedding industry and have seen so many beautiful styles over the years, without a doubt we knew that we wanted to keep our style classic but add a bit of an edge. I never pictured myself wearing white and fell in love with this beautiful Raven dress the second I saw it. I knew it was THE dress when I saw it at a friend’s shop and it was the only one I ended up trying on.
The first look was one of their fave moments. They spent a bit of time together before the ceremony and it helped them soak up the meaning behind the day before the blur that was the rest of the eve!
Lynda customized the ceremony backdrop with a unique mix of flowers featuring everything from classic and garden roses to protea and eucalyptus to west coast classics like hellebores and privet berries. And of course, everyone’s fave, pampas grass. The semi-circle framed the couple (they opted out of a wedding party) and hid confetti canons too.
Such a cute family moment!
Lynda explains, With our wedding being held in winter and on New Year’s Eve, we decided to bring in some rich textures in things like Steve’s custom velvet tux jacket, all the warm colorful & moody flowers, the textured decor, and we also had a lot of sparkle and TONS of confetti! Our wedding was an intimate cocktail style celebration which gave us a lot of time to mingle with family and friends—this was the most important thing to us.
There were so many gorgeous landscapes for Rivkah Photography to capture these two in Victoria.
The venue was the only one that we really considered for our wedding, it had everything we were looking for and is such a unique place. It had the most incredible view for our ceremony (it is named ‘The View’ after all) and an interesting space that allowed our family and friends to mingle easily during the cocktail reception. The best part was that we were able to set up a few surprise spaces too throughout the mansion, like a prohibition bar complete with polaroids & love notes, an epic photo booth room and a big space for our rockin’ band. Our decor and planner friends surprised us with a huge balloon installation for the New Years countdown and unique guest signing area that was a balloon filled ceiling with polaroids of our engagement photos hanging on the streamers. All of our immediate family was able to stay together onsite for the weekend, it was such a great bonding experience and time well spent with our favourite people.

There were so many fabulous elements during the day from our fellow vendor friends. We gave them basic ideas of what we had in mind and they honestly all just ran with it. We really wanted the experience of being surprised and not having to know all the details—it was such a wonderful feeling!
Emma and her team at The Good Party were the first vendors booked to help in planning the wedding. They created all of the stunning print materials, invitations, custom signature, website, thank you cards and an epic guest book signing balloon ceiling installation. Not only organizing the many vendors involved in this beautiful day, Emma worked with the local governing authorities when some last-minute issues arose regarding the venue. The entire wedding was planned and produced in less than four months.
Cheers, you two!
