If you’re in planning mode right now, you might be wondering how to fit both you + your partner’s histories into one seamless celebration. As you’ll see in Laura + Ewan’s Scots-Irish wedding, it can absolutely be done. She’s from west Ireland, and his family’s Scottish, so their biggest “must” was bringing the two together. It was actually pretty perfect, considering the bride’s fave color is green, and their style is super classic. The result was an elegant castle wedding in the bride’s hometown, designed with lots of traditional Scottish details (hence the tartan and kilts) in mind.

Laura tells it, Markree is such a stunning Irish castle not too far from my home town. It was being refurbished when we first visited and a was basically a construction site! We fell in love with the grounds and it was clear that it was going to be finished with huge attention to detail and we loved that it was going to be exclusively ours for the day. The perfect party venue and our own castle for the day—what more could we want!

I absolutely adored my wedding flowers! I had a Pinterest board dedicated to wedding flowers and when I showed it to my lovely florist Judi of Balla Florists, she said, “Wow! Big and bloomy! I know exactly what you are looking for!” And she totally did! My bouquet was pastel based to complement the pale green wedding tones, with mixes of pink, peach and white using roses (spray, David Austin, and avalanche) as well as scabiosa, lisianthus and astilbe, some soft ruscus greenery and lastly pops of blue with forget-me-nots.
