See how interior designer Elle Gound planned and designed her wedding

November 13, 2018

Hiya, friends! Did you all get a chance to scroll through Elle + Eliav’s modern jewel toned wedding yet? Throughout the planning process, Elle Gound used her experience as an interior designer to manage the creative process and curate their design to execute at Millwick in Los Angeles.

They started out with a general moodboard that they updated during the planning process.

Elle says, I didn’t really pick wedding colors outright. Once I started stockpiling images and ideas the palette became pretty apparent. I like to let things develop organically like that. If I started by isolating myself to specific ideas, it would be much harder to design. The beginning of the creative process is the best as there are really no limitations, just gathering all the pretty things you love. When we chose Millwick as our location, that really influenced the design direction, as I wanted anything we added to the venue to feel cohesive and enhance the beauty of the space.

She then kept running moodboards of each major design element which helped her narrow down ideas.

I did most of my organizing on Pinterest. It’s the perfect tool to organize all your images and links as you find more ideas and the design evolves. I also keep an iCloud folder to save Instagram screenshots or to keep photos I take of things when I’m traveling, shopping etc. This is the same method I use gathering inspiration for clients at work.

Elle also designed the invites with the terrazzo vibe and color palette that had come through on the original moodboard.

As a designer I’m constantly introduced to new color palettes and trends. My regular exposure to such great design made the process a bit harder in the beginning because it was actually difficult to select a direction with so much incredible inspiration out there. That being said, my experience with design projects made it easier for me to put it all together in a cohesive theme. My connections in the design world also provided great sources for me. Our table numbers were actually samples of Terrazzo tile from one of my favorite vendors, Concrete Collaborative. We added gold vinyl numbers to the blocks of terrazzo. These turned out to be one of my favorite design elements of the night.
