So, Chris + Cody’s Mexico destination wedding? NONSTOP fun. Seriously, nonstop. Prepare to find yourself scheming your own little fiesta after scrolling through all the photos Jesse Chamberlin of Our Labor of Love snapped. Naturally you expect some fun people behind a celebration like this, which is why it’s not too surprising that even more 100LC guide members Bash, Please + The Flashdance were involved…

Cody gave us a little background on their story, so you know we had to share it: In January 2012 we were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, Sven. Sven’s introductory email combined with my Facebook stalking took away some of the awkwardness of a traditional blind date the first time we met at Intelligentsia in Venice. Chris immediately captured my attention sharing stories about his family and childhood all day. I knew Chris’ heart was pure and he was someone I would enjoy spending every day with. Fast-forward four years after Sven’s kind introduction, it was only fitting that he eventually would officiate our marriage in San Miguel de Allende.

Chris is a feature film writer, director, and producer (think Paranormal Activity and Disturbia) + Cody is a senior marketing director for ALPHAEON. On their third date, Chris surprised Cody with a romantic day trip to Santa Barbara (where they went paragliding off a cliff, BTW), and three years later Cody returned the surprise there to pop the Q. Clearly, they both love the element of surprise!

Once Bash, Please suggested San Miguel, they were fascinated with the location and culture… We both wanted a unique experience for our wedding and to give our guests a memory they wouldn’t forget and something they most likely had not done before. We headed to San Miguel for a quick weekend ourselves to check out the town in May 2015. Before we even arrived, we were both intrigued by the vibrant yet quaint culture, authenticity, amazing FOOD, rich history and all the cool traditions we read about online. When we hit the town, everything exceeded our expectations… San Miguel hit all the right notes—it is honestly one of the most extremely open, friendly, safe and loving places we have ever been.

They were already impressed with the whole town, but seeing local wedding parades and other traditions sealed the deal.

Fun!

For our ceremony and reception, we wanted something more elevated and formal and loved the formal attire juxtaposed against all the awesome colors and cobblestones of San Miguel. The reception was so beautiful. Bash and their team created an atmosphere that was pure bliss and combined all the things we love with the elements of San Miguel that made us light up (literally with fireworks and tequila) until the late hours of Saturday.
