New Year’s Eve Seattle wedding: Jaime + Ryan

December 31, 2015
Seattle New Year's Eve Wedding

Fun couple alert. These two planned their wedding for an already festive night, New Years Eve. In fact, they wanted it to be just as much NYE bash as wedding. So they swapped the wedding party, flowers, and mountains of DIY projects for a magical night of dancing under the disco ball in the heart of Seattle with their crew of 70. Yesss. Thanks to Oak & Cypress Weddings + One Love Photo for the deets!

Jaime says, There are so many amazing moments from that evening, but my favorite was saying our vows. We each wrote our own. I cried the entire time and could barely get my vows out and listening to my husband say his vows with tears in his eyes was a moment I will never forget.

Since the NYE theme led the way, their color palette was white, black, and silver, which they accented with white leather lounge furniture and a few sequined tables. Melrose Market Studios is full of concrete + exposed brick + steel beams, so they added candles and uplighting for warmth.

As for the music, their song for her walk down the aisle was In A Sentimental Mood by Duke Ellington + John Coltrane and they danced their first dance to Someone to Watch Over Me by Coleman Hawkins.

Final thoughts from our bride… Since we were getting married on NYE I started reserving vendors about a year in advance. About six months before the wedding, I hired Oak & Cypress Weddings and she took it from there. The biggest hurdle was being firm with friends and family about who was being invited. We wanted our wedding to be small and just our closest friends and family, which meant excluding a lot of family and friends. People had a hard time with it at first, but understood it was our day and it was what we wanted. My tip is, don’t sweat the details. No one will notice what is missing or isn’t quite how you wanted it.

Congrats you two!

Wishing everyone a safe and fabulous New Years!
