When we saw those killer bouquets in last week’s Spanish-inspired styled shoot, we knew we weren’t quite over bright blooms. Just because it’s not summer doesn’t mean a vibrant color story needs to be absent from your day. Emily Wren had this idea to translate a rich palette + the lighting of 17th century Dutch Master paintings to photos. It wouldn’t have been possible without capturing the richness in the bouquets or the decadence in the food—all the recipe for a Dutch-inspired wedding scene. Injected with lots of color too!

Emily says, Most of these historic paintings feature still life with food that is over-ripe or peaking. Birchtree Catering and Cake Life Bake Shop wanted to capture that feeling of abundance and decadence with seeping or oozing honey dripping down the cake, and marrow bones on pewter plates. Kate Farley Design perfectly captured the essence of these paintings with her floral design; bright and bold colors that sharply contrast against the dark backgrounds.

The striking jewelry from Egan Day, and the almost painterly quality of the gold fabric of the gorgeous Carol Hannah gown were all part of the little details really made this shoot come to life!
