DIY industrial Portland wedding: Russell + Anna

Okay, we love, loooove southern California weddings. Love. But after pouring over Bethany Small’s photos from the Oregon wedding she shot, we 100% see why one might choose the PNW for I Do. Simply put, Portland is just so wonderfully green. And gray. It’s a beautiful combo! Anna’s dream was to get married in a forest, but that wasn’t going to happen there in January, so they brought the forest to them with foraged foliage and accented by white flowers, all whipped up by friends + fam. Let’s take a look at the photos, shall we?

A color scheme to bookmark: navy, cream/white, gold, and shades on shades of green. Castaway was a fantastic blank canvas with steel windows + exposed wood.

Both her dress + veil were scored from Brides for a Cause, a local secondhand boutique, and it was a sample dress, so it was brand new!

Anna says, I love vintage pieces so we collected old brass candlesticks and gold dipped frames and old Big Ben clocks. We love old pieces mixing with contemporary clean lines, but mostly we love the great outdoors and being from the PNW this is what I wanted our wedding to feel like (even in January!)  DIY projects included all flowers, chalkboards, signage, photo backdrop, paper curtains, marquee letters from Christmas lights, and paper mache letters.

Anna’s fave moments… My vows were truly incredible; there was no one else in the room for that moment. As I looked into Russell’s eyes and promised him my forever, there was something so powerful and big about that moment. Close seconds would be my surprise dance with my dad. Being that he is not able to walk very well or even stand for long periods of time I never thought we could ever pull off a dance like that, but it was a special gift and moment I will cherish forever! The best part was it was totally his idea! And the third would be getting ready with all my sisters, mom and best friends. They were there to support me, cheer me on and be present. I felt so deeply loved and cared for. The day was unforgettable!

Cheers to the happy couple!
