Ashley + Garrett’s wedding is a pretty grand affair, yeah? It’s got lush and organic florals, a historic Oklahoma City venue, a 24-person wedding party—the works. But what if we told you that Ashley had a few cash saving secrets that helped keep the entire soiree looking spectacular without going over budget? Believe it, Cakies, because she’s sharing some of those secrets with us today! Enjoy all of Josh McColluck’s pretty photos, and keep reading for Ashley’s tips sprinkled in between…

The first budget-friendly tip from Ashley: It was really important to me to have all of the special women in my life stand up with me. So we ended up with 12 bridesmaids!  Of course, bouquets can add up quickly, but my amazing florist, Poppy Lane Design, came up with the cost effective but beautiful and bold idea of using solid silver dollar eucalyptus. By tying them with trailing metallic ribbon, they made a huge impact.  Everyone loved them!  This allowed us to divert the majority of our floral budget to the knockout centerpieces and aisle decor.

And when you save a little dough on the flowers, you can splurge on a sparkly pair of Jimmy Choos!

Ashley’s bouquet recipe: blush and ivory peonies, blush and ivory astilbe, maidenhair fern, Juliette garden roses, ivory ranunculus, pepperberry, olive branches and Queen Anne’s lace.

Another totally brilliant tip from the bride: We wanted a lot of little wedding cakes. So to save money, most of them were frosted Styrofoam that our baker kept as display cakes and didn’t charge us for. And then we served sheet cake to our guests. It was still delicious!

Their love story: My brother asked Garrett to ask me out on a date. He knew Garrett was a good guy and wanted to see if he could play matchmaker. Garrett and I had to cancel our first date because of a tornado warning, but not even Mother Nature couldn’t keep us apart. We both knew pretty quickly that we were meant to be. I knew I loved him after I saw how he treated my dog. I know that is silly, but before Garrett it was just my dog and me. We now have three dogs. (I don’t think there are more spoiled dogs in Oklahoma!) We are each other’s best friends biggest supporters.

Congrats A + G!
