Let’s start by sharing that this gorgeous couple is actually having FOUR weddings. Yes, four. It sounds crazy, but do you know what? It totally made sense for them and was the only way they could celebrate with all the people they loved in different parts of the country. This Art Deco wedding was their first, and their “official” wedding, inspired by all the things they love about the roaring 20’s and art deco periods.
As Rachelle was planning this wedding, she was actually still living in NYC, before the move to Detroit. Because she didn’t know anyone in the city or anyone who had been married there, she relied soley on the internet for everything. The one thing she KNEW she had to have (after hours and hours of research) was photos by JLB Photography. It was the one big splurge in all the rest of their party planning, it was she felt totally worth it. We totally agree.
The rest of her planning was pretty budget conscious, down to doing her own hair. She did it herself in only 15 minutes! So impressed, Rachelle. It’s gorgeous and perfectly fits your glamourous theme.
She found her beautiful scalloped, beaded dress at an evening gown boutique, which fit perfectly, and paid only $400. Nice!
As a surprise to Stephen, Rachelle walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of “Hail to the Victors” (the Michigan fight song). It was his favorite part of the day.
After the ceremony the couple and their photographer went on a tour of Detroit, taking photos in all the favorite spots around the city.
The photos at Cliff Bells in particular are stunning!
Such a lovely celebration you two! Congrats on this wedding and the other three celebrations you have to look forward to!
