The moody vibe that White Willow Photography captured in this engagement shoot is so cinematic that you kind of forget you’re looking at a real engaged couple, and not movie stills. There are even a couple of photos that feel very The Virgin Suicides-esque. Let’s see if you can spot them.

Yep, this is one of those shots we were talking about. Such inspiring photography, right?

And this is another one. We hope they print these out in large format and frame them, they’re stunning.

Their love story, as told through Carolyn:

Myself and Rory are both originally from Newfoundland, Canada, however we were both living apart when we met. Rory was living in Houston, Texas as an oil and gas engineer and I was living in Ontario, Canada training as a pediatrician. We met in Newfoundland, while both home for Christmas in 2010 at a mutual friend’s Christmas party. Rory asked me out for coffee the next day, as he was soon leaving again for Texas. I hesitated for a moment, as I wondered the likelihood of actually seeing each other afterwards. My mother was the voice of reason with, “Sure, its only coffee, what’s the worst that can happen?”. After our first date, Rory went back to Texas and I to Ontario. That was the start of our daily text messages, phone calls, Skype and eventually a whole lot of trips taken between Texas and Canada.

After almost two years, we were both able to transfer our jobs back home to St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada and put an end to all the frequent flyer miles! I’m glad I listened to my mother’s advice.

Rory proposed while we were on a hike along the East Coast Trail. It is a beautiful hiking trail that runs along the coast of Newfoundland, which is the most eastern point in North America. He proposed on a portion of the trail that looks back over Quidi Vidi Village, a small fishing community. I turned to admire the view and when I looked back he was down on one knee. After saying yes and shedding a few tears, we ate a little picnic before heading back home to tell our friends and family.
