Sara and Scott are both are very laid back, love to DIY basically everything, and wanted their guests to feel so comfortable that they’d think they were at home. They had BBQ for dinner, lawn games out for anyone to play, and nixed a lot of the traditional wedding stuff (cutting the cake, bouquet & garter toss, dollar dance…etc.). They wanted to have a fun evening celebrating with the people they love most, in a location that meant a lot to them. And did we mention Sara’s an event coordinator? Yep, so you know there’s going to be pretty little details!
I’m not the type of girl that had been planning my wedding since I was a little girl and dreamed of her dream dress, so I had mine custom made. (Honestly, I don’t even like shopping all that much). So shopping for a wedding dress did not sound all that fun to me. I knew what I wanted and decided to look for someone who could make it to fit me. That’s when I stumbled upon Janay Andrew’s website and scheduled an appointment. Our first meeting went wonderfully! She is so very talented and made my perfect wedding dress!
We had my sister-in-law sing and play the guitar during our ceremony and reception. She sang Ben Rector’s, “Falling In Love” as I walked down the aisle and then she sang Mumford and Sons’, “Below my Feet” for our 1st dance.
We got married at my parent’s house in Gardner, KS. Their house is actually their office for their business and has a pool and a lot of land. Ever since Scott and I started dating we have spent a lot of time out there whether it be for swimming, grilling out, or hunting. Scott even proposed to me out there. We kind of always knew that is where we were going to get married because it holds such a special place in our hearts.
