Ruby + Victor always said that if their wedding was a movie, it would be an indie film. She’s an actress and he is a writer/director, and both connected immediately with films they’ve loved. And as most true independent films are a labor of love, their wedding was as well. Both striving in their fields, they were on a very strict budget, but still wanted to make sure their loved ones had a great night with plenty to drink, eat and dance the night away. Going with a large, empty warehouse helped with costs and gave Ruby a blank canvas to go wild with diy projects.

A simple, but gorgeous all white dahlia bouquet. Classic!

Our ceremony was a big part of the night where we were able to express ourselves with letters we’d written to each other when we first started falling in love, a duet by my brother and his wife (They sang Donovan’s, I Sing To You. It was just perfect.), and writing our own vows and promises.

We decided to use our favorite films as our table numbers. We thought about all of our loved ones and sat them at specific tables that made sense to each film. Such as, we sat, along with our bridal party, at It’s A Wonderful Life. Our parents were seated at Parenthood and some of our young, hip friends were seated at Singles. We found they were good conversation starters.

You need this advice:
DEEP BREATHS. Take it all in. Be in the moment. Make it personal. That’s what people like. Not how much money you spend. I chose to have two drinks the entire night as I wanted to be crystal clear. It goes so fast. Think long and hard ahead of time about all the choices you have because you have one chance to get it done and in the moment you won’t have the time or the energy to make any decisions while it’s happening. Don’t be afraid to over communicate and don’t feel bad to ask for help. People like to be involved. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, it’s about you and your partner. Don’t lose that in the production of it all. I had to remind myself that constantly. This isn’t just some huge show. It’s a lifetime commitment and all the lead ups to the big day help you figure out how to live the rest of your lives together. How to budget, problem solve, stay calm and plan a party that you BOTH have the time of your life at!

Love the bride’s gown and bouquet. Such a classic look with some modern details.
These are absolutely stunning – I love Ruby’s style, especially with the industrial feel of that space.
Beautiful Wedding!! Love it. Romantic pictures
As the Mother of the Bride I couldn’t have been more proud to see the wedding plans unfold over the year before the day. Ruby did such a terrific job of creating this vision and all the people involved were such a blessing. Bravo to all and most of all the hit that is Ruby and Victor!
Decor, bride’s dress, flowers, venue, groom .. all were so beautiful. Also, beautiful? The guest’s dress who has the long black dress and b/w criss-cross detail on he back. Anyone know where that comes from?
wow! everything in this concept is so very nice. the decors, venue, gown and bouquet is so very beautiful just like the bride with her super blooming make up.
Oh my. I love everything about this. And to have pies and cupcakes – loved that! The video was amazing. It was great to see the couple and everyone celebrating their union and having a ball.
Y’all, that is just the most perfect, sweet and -did I say, PERFECT – wedding I’ve ever seen! Not like Martha Stewart perfect. Like perfect, passionate people perfect. With purpose. Love, love, love!!! And loooove the video! My heart is fluttering. Ruby & Victor – you guys give my heart hope! xoxo
Love the country eclicktic style. What a beautiful mix of styles, colors , textures and
people who just seem to be having a great time.
Thank you all so much for all the kind words. Reliving our wedding is one of my favorite things to do. I do it quite often. All the posts on 100 Layer Cake and zillions of other weddings posted on this site gave me such inspiration and hope that I too, could make it an amazing day. So thank you all! I also wanted to point out that my brother was the amazing artist that did our mural on the wall, “you make this place so much better”. He is a street artist here in LA and goes by Morley. If you live in LA you can see his stuff all over!
Love Love

Absolutely gorgeous wedding, looks like a perfect day as shown on the photographs.
Hey Ruby! I found the poodle parlor online about a month ago, loved the photos, then found your photos and loved it even more! What a beautiful wedding, and congratulations!
Just hoping for some words of wisdom!
May I ask how you got a hold of them? I’ve been calling/emailing about rental costs for a few weeks and can’t get in touch with them
Thanks!
