Cheerful Maine wedding: Ruth + Ed

February 21, 2012

It might seem like Valentine’s Day is over – that the days of heart balloons are gone until next year, but February still has two weeks to go. So to the cute pink heart-shaped balloons in Ruth + Ed’s wedding, welcome! Pink is just one of the many colors in R + E’s wedding. They took the shabby chic look to a whole new level by personalizing and modernizing it with the brightest of colors – aqua chiavari chairs, magenta tissue poms and candle holders, with gold accents in their table runner and place settings. If anyone were to coin the theme, “barn chic”, it’s these two!

Ruth can do no wrong in that Claire La Faye ruffled dress! As for Ed – he’s looking mighty dapper in those rose Duckie Brown shoes and pink J.Crew gingham shirt. These two are crazy adorable, yes?

R + E get real on the doubts they had about planning their dream wedding:

In the months leading up to our wedding, there were days we loved thinking about and planning our wedding, and there were days when we were so overwhelmed and convinced it would be an epic stress that we seriously considered skipping town and heading for a Vegas chapel. Then something incredible happened…we loved everything about our wedding! For the first weekend in months, the weather in southern Maine was sunny, warm, and dry. Thanks to spring’s late arrival, our favorite flowers that were supposed to be out of season for our wedding we’re actually IN season. The dozens of DIY elements we were weeks behind on finishing were somehow completed on time (thanks to our army of helpers in the 11th hour). And our vows which were being written and re-written up until a few hours before the ceremony came out funnier, more poignant, and more lyrical than we ever could have imagined. In a word…perfection!

This wedding just brightened up our day. You can see more of this wedding in the March issue of Brides Magazine. Congratulations Ruth + Ed!
