The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co.

January 16, 2012

We constantly hear brides admit to becoming bff’s with their wedding coordinator/designer. Happens all the time! How can you not love them after they’ve literally knocked out the wedding of your dreams? They know where every bitty detail will sit, when to queue the music, when to bring on the late night snack, stick to your budget, manage all the chaos behind the scenes, and you? You’re getting your hair done with a glass of bubbly in your hand not worrying about a thing – except for making sure you’re wearing waterproof mascara. The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co. does it all. Consulting, Week Of/Month Of, Design and Coordination, Service Event Planning – they get it done! Check out some of their work:

Getting to know the pros:

What made you become an event planner?
I had been working in fashion buying and merchandising for several years and I while I loved it, I was ready to move on to something new. Over the years, I had planned a bunch of parties for my close friends and they all started telling me I was good at it and I began to think of events as a career choice. When layoffs came at the company I was working for, I immediately jumped at the chance to intern in event planning and from there I began my new path in the events industry. It was the best decision I have ever made!

What makes for an unforgettable wedding?
There are a few things: the expression of love between the couple, a great group of people in attendance, plenty of food and alcohol and non-stop dancing!

Who is your dream client?
That’s a tough one! I am a gemini so I feel like I have two ideas on many things. I would say Ralph Lauren because I really want to see that ranch of his. He is a branding genius and I love his luxurious preppy style. But then I also can’t get enough of the whimsy of someone like Jonathan Adler. I am a HUGE Palm Springs fan and enjoy bursts of color – he sums it all up for me. I think I should plan a joint dinner party for both of them!

What is your favorite part of your job?
There are so many! However, I really enjoy getting to know so many people. It’s a pleasure to become an important part of your clients’ lives and then have all of these new friends.  And not only that, I also get to work with so many creative and talented vendors – they are all so inspirational and supportive. I feel lucky everyday that I get to do what I do! Plus I have access to a lot of sweets and I enjoy looking at pretty things:)

Favorite part of a wedding?
It is always rewarding when the bride and groom first see the space. I like the joy and excitement they feel when they see all of their dreams come to life. And I also love the end of the night when the dance floor is full and the bride and groom are finally relaxed and having a good time with their family and friends.
