Words are failing us this fine Monday morning, Cakelets. Anything we could write wouldn’t do justice to this wedding masterpiece. And Artemis, truly a goddess if you ask us, explains everything on her super sweet blog Tales of a Junkaholic.

We’ll just give you a quick recap and then you can enjoy the photos without our commentary. They did EVERYTHING themselves. Everything. Liberty fabric bunting, homemade UNREAL cake, thrifted and vintage details (like a giant clamshell to chill proseco!), handmade invites, DIY flowers, details everywhere. And the bride’s dress, vintage 1931 for £2.99, totally reworked for her.

Wait. Two more words: Wedding Tent.

We could keep going, but honestly, Artemis explains it better herself.

Okay seriously… just look for yourselves:

See? (They actually slept in their wedding tent, for the record.)

Ceremony venue: Appuldurcrombe House, Isle of Wight / Reception venue: Afton Park Apple Orchard / Photography: Artemis (the lovely bride) and Bib (her bro) Russell

Full recap, lots more gorgeous photos, and all details explained here.

  2. This is definitely the wedding of 2010 in my book.

  3. I Love 100 Layer Cake for all of what typically are chic and interesting weddings but, this is a bit much. This wedding is not chic, it’s a mess.

  4. I love that this wedding is truly original…obviously a reflection of an artistic & creative couple! Cheers to you both for letting your personalities shine through on your big day!!

  5. I love it! The details are amazing.

  6. I love all the personalized details about this wedding! I love the wedding cake, very interesting, very personlized and very sweet, all at the same time!

p.s. Not sure about what others are thinking but I don’t believe that this is a “messy” look for a wedding! Again, everyone has his/ her own personal tastes and I respect/ celebrate individualities!

  7. Oh, I’m in heaven! All those pennant flags are amazing, and I love the paper products!

  11. thank you 100layercake for featuring our little wedding! and thank you for your lovely comments too…we didn’t want to spend too much on our wedding as we are saving up to buy a house! sorry Elizabeth if you thought it was a mess, i guess it was rather ‘rustic’ but suppose thats just the way we are! good luck with your wedding though?

many thanks everyone and we wish you all the best with your future wedding plans Xxx

  19. I’m speechless, and that doesn’t happen often. Congrats to the couple.

  20. What a beautiful and personalized wedding – truly a memorable day for the bride and groom and all of their lucky guests. SO much respect for a bride and groom who are just bursting at the seams with creativity and who do so much of their own wedding. Truly inspiring.

I was really disappointed and rather disgusted with the commenter who said, basically, that she usually likes your website but felt that this wedding was “a mess” – not only could I not disagree more but who is she to judge someone’s special day, really? At a young age I learned an important lesson that I carry with me to this day – “if you can’t say something nice…”

100 Layer Cake, thank you, as always for posting inspirational ideas of all styles and taste! It is what truly makes your blog stand out!

  21. That’s just my kind of wedding! The originality and homemade details make me smile!

  22. Really nice wedding. So simple but perfect

  23. I absolutely love that tent. I want one!

  24. WOW, stunning!!! I love the buntings carried throughout all aspects of the wedding.

  25. Oh my god, seriously heart melting… possibly up there as the prettiest wedding I have ever seen!!

  26. I was at the wedding and it was perfect.
It was perfect because it was as they wanted and that, to me, is the most important part of a wedding.
The cake was the best lemon-ey cake i have ever tasted (made with love by mom) and every detail made our day one to remember.
(The tent, you can email Artemis and ask for the details, but i think is available to purchase either from Holland directly, as long as your own country does not have anyone with an exclusivity deal, or in your own country via that rep…So please email her and ask, or post your question on her blog, she loves feedback)
Ps. For those with any doubts in their mind after the post by Elisabeth… there was nothing messy about the wedding.

  27. LOVING THAT TENT!!!!

  28. gee – i dunno how anyone could think this wedding was a mess. i love the tent, and i’ll be going by your blog, artemis (ps love your name, too!), to see how i might locate one of these for myself. (and maybe put it in my loft apartment!)

  29. I loved everything about this original and very personal wedding, from the handwritten notes to the fabulous cake (please, please tell us more about it!) to that amazing, romantic tent. What a brilliantly creative couple to produce such an uncontrived, memorable wedding. Many congratulations!

  30. Love the grooms shorts and the idea of a wedding tent! Rustic but still chic.

  31. So beautiful. Very bohemian and I can’t resist a groom in shorts–mine will be!

Saying that someone’s wedding is a mess or isn’t “good” is about as valid as telling someone they’re grieving wrong or that the music in their iPod sucks. No one is objective enough to judge something that personal.

    I loved it, however.

  32. Goodness, whoever made that ‘mess’ comment should really consider their language. Beautiful wedding x

  33. Love the tent! I am going to search where we could get that. :)

  34. Good things: the paper products, the bunting, the grooms cute shorts and shoes, that dreamy tent, the details like the favors and the little paper tag/flags.

Bad things: the bride’s dress is a little too revealing for my taste and… the cake… well the cake IS a mess. it is- it is not clean or neat- let’s be honest about that.

but this couple clearly wasn’t going for clean and neat. at least i hope not.
no need to get defensive. it was a bold move and you can’t think everyone is going to like that style. it is by no means chic by definition or put together- but it has its own charm and as long as the bride and groom were happy that’s really what matters.

everyone seems so quick to jump on someone who dissents- it’s their opinion. goodness.

  35. Great post, I conceive people should learn a lot from this web site its rattling user friendly.
