This pretty wedding came from our friend and 100LC reader Sarah, who actually found her amazing photographer through our little blog. NEAT!!! Sarah and her hubs Vincent live in LA (where Vincent is the killer chef/owner of Animal), but had their wedding at Sarah’s family home on Long Island. As she says, having the wedding at home was a ton of work, but way worth it for the intimacy and memories they’ll have forever.

On balance, a lovely wedding. The pigs in a blanket deserve a shout-out for their contribution to the down-home feel. On a cautionary note: Think twice before adding ol’ timey fiddlers to your wedding mix. You’ll spend more time prying them away from the open bar than you will dancing to their music.
Love it! Love it! Love it! The trouble with most rustic weddings is that the guests often feel as if they’re picnicking at a roadside reststop. But this one creates that authentic Arkansian feel without making you suspect that the groom is wearing a piece of rope for a belt.
The mini sausage croissants look so cute and tasty. Woweee!!!! I also love the rustic lanterns and the tiny tin pails with candles in it. Looks so timeless and does add quite a statement of uniqueness to the whole wedding ambiance. I love the details!!!!

As mother of the bride, I agree with my daughter that it was tons of work, but also tons of pleasure. Kimberlee was an angel and all the vendors that she contracted were a pleasure to work with. It was truly beautiful, delicious, fun and a most memorable event.
Lord, how I do long for the days when a groom would make a point of shaving before his wedding. Call me old fashioned, but why call it a “groom” if no actual grooming is required? Of course, there’s the distinct possibility that the term derives from the manner of grooming more commonly associated with a stable, in which case I would stand corrected.
I grew up in the foothills of the Applachians, in Perry County, Ohio. In the summer I would run into the cornfield to relieve myself, rather than risk being bitten by a snake in the two-seated outhouse that served as my family’s only commode. (I’ve sinced gotten over my phobia of snakes and in fact keep three of them in my apartment for companionship and protection.) My mother was married in her Loretta Lynn-esque prom dress because a) her family couldn’t afford a fancy new dress from the department store in town, and b) my grandpa insisted on the poetic justice of his only daughter slinking down the aisle in the garment she got knocked up in. Why you rich folk spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to recreate that tragic scene is beyond me.
