Secluded sandbar elopement in Fiji

October 9, 2015

Happy Friday, cakies! Warning: this Fiji elopement miiiight make you want to start the weekend a bit early. But when you live a busy life like NYC-based James + Lauren do, it’s not hard to see why you’d want to escape the city and jet set half way around the world for your big day. Lush, secluded, and full of romance, these two couldn’t have made a better decision than the Royal Davui Island Resort for their nuptials. Thanks to Kama Catch Me for the swoon-worthy photos + Lauren for sharing their story below…

Lauren explains, We arrived at the Royal Davui with this brilliant assumption that the weather would be absolutely perfect, which it was not. In the four days prior to our ceremony, the skies were overcast with occasional rain each day. On the morning of our ceremony, we woke up with excitement to find very clear skies with one seriously spectacular sunrise… *enter choir of singing angels*!

Feeling very under control, relaxed, and stress-free we prepared for our ceremony in our room together (which certainly helped with the nerves that did eventually sneak up). Just a brief exchange of hugs and kisses and we were on a boat out to the sandbar where we would be married. I truly doubt that we will ever see more beautiful colors than those of the ocean that day!

This dress! FoldedRoses on Etsy is exactly the right complement to turquoise waters, don’t you think?

Our ceremony was short, simple, and perfect. Walking down the aisle together was pretty amazing with the feeling of entering this new chapter of our lives together. My favorite moment was when we spoke our vows to one another. For a brief minute everything was gone and it was just the two of us, eyes locked. Looking into James’ eyes, I saw overwhelming love. That moment for me was super magical. The rest of the afternoon was spent out on the sand bar with the Kama’s taking photos, laughing and having a blast being silly in celebration mode.

If I could give advice to future brides in preparation for their big day I’d say, ELOPE! Thanks to the amazing staff at Royal Davui, who in traditional Fijian fashion made us a part of their family, plus our team of planners and amazing photographers, eloping was stress-free, romantic, and incredibly fun! Our friends and family celebrated with us back home over social media, showing us incredible support. We carried their kind words and warm wishes in our hearts on our magical Fijian wedding day.

Congrats James + Lauren! Wishing you the best.
